    Abstract: A cell searching method in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) cellular system, a frame transmitting method, and a frame transmitter are provided to reduce a cell searching time in a mobile terminal by simplifying a cell searching device. A forward link frame has duration of 10ms and includes 20 sub-frames(110). Each of the sub-frames has a duration of 0.5ms and includes 7 OFDM symbols(120). A primary synchronous channel OFDM symbol(100-A) and a secondary synchronous channel OFDM symbol(101-A) are included in every ten sub-frames. Two first and second synchronous channel OFDM symbols are included in one frame. A repetition period(130) of the synchronous channel symbols is equal to a sum of lengths of ten sub-frames. When first and second synchronous channels are coupled with each other according to a TDM(Time Division Multiplexing) scheme, the first and second synchronous channels are arranged to be adjacent to each other, such that a channel estimation value of the first synchronous channel is used, while the second synchronous channel is coherently demodulated.

    Abstract: A cell searching method in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) cellular system, a frame transmitting method, and a frame transmitter are provided to reduce a cell searching time in the OFDM cellular system by reducing a configuration complexity of a cell searching unit. A synchronization detector(622) includes correlation calculators(701-A,701-B), a signal coupler(702), an accumulation unit(703), and a timing detector(710). Outputs from the correlation calculators are accumulated in the accumulation unit through the signal coupler. The correlation calculator generates 4800 units in respective synchronization blocks. The timing detector detects a position of a sample having a peak value from correlation values, and determines the detector sample position as synchronous channel symbol timing. The accumulation unit adds the respective correlation values for the sample positions to the correlation value corresponding to a position, which is spaced from the respective sample positions by a length of the synchronization block.
