Abstract: Various features related to eMTC-U deployment are described. In an aspect of the disclosure, an apparatus (e.g., a base station) maybe configured to select a subset of non-anchor channels from a set of available non-anchor channels, where the subset of non-anchor channels may correspond to a bandwidth within an unlicensed band. The apparatus maybe further configured to transmit information indicating the subset of non-anchor channels via an anchor channel. In some configurations, the subset of non-anchor channels maybe selected based on channel measurements performed by the base station or a UE. In one aspect, a UE may receive, from a base station via an anchor channel, information indicating a subset of non-anchor channels selected from a set of available non-anchor channels. The UE may transmit data on one or more non-anchor channel of the subset of non-anchor channels.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for refinement of receive beam beamforming parameters at a user equipment (UE). A UE may transmit two or more signals in an uplink transmission that have different beamforming parameters. A base station receiving the uplink transmission may measure the two or more signals, and identify a first signal of the two or more signals based at least in part on the measuring. The base station may inform the UE of the identified first signal, which the UE may use to set receive beam beamforming parameters for one or more subsequent downlink transmissions.

Abstract: Quasi-colocation (QCL) for listen before talk (LBT) procedures is disclosed. A base station having a plurality of antennas may identify one or more groups of QCL antennas. Various aspects provide for different rules defining the QCL relationship, such as base on interference experienced by the antennas, a physical or logical connection of the antennas and LBT coupling, or synchronization. QCL may further be determined across multiple shared channels, such as based on frequency separation or frequency band of the channels. Once grouped as QCL, the base station performs the LBT procedure to reserve access to the one or more shared communication channels. If the LBT is successful, the base station may then transmit a channel reservation preamble on the shared communication channels in response.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication that support positioning techniques are described. One method may include receiving a positioning reference signal (PRS) configuration; receiving a plurality of PRS transmissions over a shared radio frequency spectrum from a plurality of base stations; and transmitting a measurement report of the PRS transmissions. The PRS transmissions may be received according to the PRS configuration. Another method may include receiving a discovery reference signal (DRS) transmission from a first base station; decoding a cell identifier of the first base station based on the DRS transmission; determining timing information of the first base station based on the DRS transmission; and transmitting a measurement report of the DRS transmission to a second base station.

Abstract: Random access channel (RACH) configurations for new radio (NR) shared spectrum (NR-SS) networks are disclosed. A base station may perform a listen before talk (LBT) procedure on a shared communication channel at a beginning of a discovery measurement timing configuration (DMTC) window. In response to a successful LBT, the base station may transmit synchronization signals over a plurality of directional beams according to a predetermined sequence. The user equipment (UE) may determine the predetermined sequence through the detected synchronization signals. The base station may signal configuration of additional random access resources when the LBT procedure delays beyond dedicated random access resources. The base station may then monitor for UEs to transmit random access signals from each direction corresponding to directional beams within the additional random access resources according to the predetermined sequence.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. More particularly, aspects of the present disclosure provide multiplexing schemes which may be suited for the single carrier waveform. For example, some techniques and apparatuses described herein permit multiplexing of multiple, different data streams without destroying the single-carrier properties of the waveform. Examples of multiplexing schemes described herein include in-phase/quadrature (I/Q) multiplexing, superposition quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) based at least in part on layered bit mapping, polarization division multiplexing of QAM with superposition coding, and frequency division multiplexing using UE-specific beams.

A wireless device may schedule an autonomous uplink (UL) transmission and a scheduled UL transmission during the same time period. The wireless device may determine that it is operating in a limited power state and therefore cannot transmit both the autonomous UL transmission and the scheduled UL transmission. The wireless device may prioritize one of the autonomous UL transmission and the scheduled UL transmission based at least in part on a priority configuration. The wireless device may receive the priority configuration from a base station ( e.g. , in radio resource control signaling).

The UE may then transmit grantless uplink data during at least one of the one or more grantless uplink subframes based at least in part on the grantless uplink group associated for the UE and the uplink control information.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for synchronization for wideband coverage enhancement. A user equipment (UE) may receive a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) in a subframe. In one example, the SSS may be received in a symbol that is after a symbol in which the PSS is received, and after a set of symbols in which a set of other synchronization signals is received. In another example, the PSS may be received in each of a first plurality of consecutive symbols, and the SSS may be received in each of a second plurality of consecutive symbols, wherein the second plurality of consecutive symbols is after the first plurality of consecutive symbols within the subframe. The UE may synchronize with a base station based at least in part on the PSS and the SSS. Numerous other aspects are provided.
