Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a color video printer which can reduce white color parts left unprinted to a printing paper. CONSTITUTION:The printer is provided with a sensor 224 at the side of an entrance of a capstan 410 to detect an edge of a printing paper 202. The sensor 224 detects a front edge of the printing paper 202 and also a rear edge of the printing paper 202, so that the printing paper 202 is started to be printed from a position shifted several mm towards a printing part based on a reference position where the rear edge 202a is detected.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a printer capable of discharging off-specification paper by identifying the length of printing paper in a color video printer. CONSTITUTION:A title printer is provided with a paper supply sensor 224 and a sensor 415 disposed forward of the paper supply sensor 224 in a printing paper feed direction. The leading edge of printing paper is detected by the paper supply sensor 224. The printing paper is further fed. When the leading edge is detected by the sensor 415, the length of the printing paper is equal to a distance 128mm between both the sensors. Herefrom, the printing paper is further fed. The length of the printing paper herefrom until the trailing edge of the printing paper is detected by the paper supply sensor 224 is added to the distance 128mm between the sensors. In this manner, the real length of the printing paper is calculated.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the reuse of an ink ribbon, in a color video printer, by changing over the rotary direction of a printing paper feed motor when a printing head moves to a printing standby position after the completion of printing operation to perform the unwinding operation of the ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:At the time of printing, at first, printing paper 202 is taken out by the rotation of a feeding roller 213 and fed into a passage M until its rear end is detected by a feeding sensor 224. Next, the reverse operation of a capstan 410 is performed by a stepping motor simultaneously with the taking-up operation of an ink ribbon 10 due to a motor to feed the printing paper 202 in the direction reverse to the feed direction and a head arm 312 is rotated leftward and printing is performed by the head 323 held to the state of contact with a platen 412 under pressure. After printing is completed, the head 323 is moved to the standby position separated from the platen 412 and, at the same time, a reel stand is rotated in a taking-up direction by the rotation of a pendulum gear to remove the slackening of the ink ribbon 10.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To mount a paper stock sensor in a paper feeder apparatus such as a printer, which enables the reduction in size of the mounting space and the accompanying reduction in cost and simultaneously enables detecting a stocked state of paper with high precision. CONSTITUTION:A paper feed roller 1 is disposed above a paper feed tray 4 while a paper raising roller 2 is disposed under the same. Paper feeding is effected by pressing a developing paper 5 stocked in the paper feed roller 4 against the rotating paper feed roller 1 by the paper raising roller 2. A reflective sensor 6 is disposed between frame portions 2a formed in a paper abutment surface of the paper raising roller 2, thereby miniaturizing the mounting space therefor. Detection of that the paper stock is present or absent is made with the developing paper 5 being pressed against the paper feed roller 1. Namely, the detection precision is enhanced with the detection distance being kept constant.

In this manner, a momentary power from a commercial power source or the like is lowered, and the power source part 11 is made small in size.
