Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance and wear resistance to a large extent, and prevent deterioration in soft magnetic characteristic and decrease in saturation magnetic flux density, by adding Ru to Sendust alloy whose basic components are Fe, Al and Si, CONSTITUTION:The main components of the titled device are Fe, Al and Si whose constitution ranges are 3-10wt% for Al and 5-15wt% for Si, and moreover, Ru of 2-15wt% is contained. The addition of Ru is extremely effective to improve corrosion resistance and wear resistance. For example, the amount of wear is investigated by varing the Ru addition amount (x) to the soft magnetic thin film whose composition is Fe72-x Rux Si17 Al11 (where numerical values indicate wt%). This result shows remarkable effects in reducing the amount of wear as shown in the figure.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make the saturated magnetic flux density of the titled soft magnetic thin film higher than that of the Sendust alloy without changing soft magnetic characteristics and the like by a method wherein Fe, Co, Ga and Si are selected as the constituent elements of the soft magnetic thin film, and the compositional ratio of said elements is set within the prescribed range. CONSTITUTION:In order to increase the density of saturated magnetic flux, the composition of the titled soft magnetic thin film is set as FexCoyGaaSib (the compositional ratio of x, y, a and b is indicated by atomic %) taking into consideration of the fact that the point of intersection of the line of magnetostriction lambdas=0 with the line of crystal magnetic anisotropy K=0 is to be set closer to the side of Fe high density, and that the rate of reduction of magnetic moment in absolute zero and the addition of Co improves the density of saturated magnetic flux, the corrosion resistance and the abrasion resistance of the soft magnetic thin film. In this compositional ratio, when the adding quantity of Co is too much, the density of saturated magnetic flux and soft magnetic characteristics are deteriorated in inverse proportion to the corrosion resistance and the abrasion resistance. Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the substantial reduction in permeability especially in the super high frequency zone of 10MHz or above by a method wherein a plurality of layers of metal magnetic material layers are laminated through an electric insulating layer, and between each metal magnetic material layer is electrically short-circuited locally. CONSTITUTION:Metal magnetic material layers 1a-1c are laminated through the intermediaries of electric insulating layers 2a and 2b and, at the same time, a conductive material layer 3 with which between metal magnetic material layers 1a and 1c is electrically short-circuited locally is formed in deposition on one side face of the laminated body. An eddy current runs along the closed curved line E as shown by arrows in the diagram. As the high frequency eddy current runs on the conductive material layer 3, the part (shaded part) which is turned to an almost reactive region judging from the view-point of permeability, is reduced remarkably. As a result, the lowering of permeability in an extra-high frequency zone can be prevented effectively.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To restrain lowering of reproduced output by disposing an MR element, produced by laminating ferromagnetic thin films through nonmagnetic metal layers, perpendicularly to an ABS plane. CONSTITUTION:An MR element 4 having leading end and trailing end connected, respectively, with wiring conductors 2, 3 for feeding sense current is formed on a substrate 1 of nonmagnetic material, e.g. Al2O3-TiC, functioning as a slider and then the MR element 4 is sandwiched vertically by a pair of magnetic shields 5, 6. Sense current flows into the element 4, intersecting an ABS plane 7 perpendicularly, in the longitudinal direction thereof through the wiring conductors 2, 3. A bias conductor 8 for applying a bias magnetic field to the element 4 is interposed between the conductors 2 and 3 above the central part in the longitudinal direction of the element 4 while traversing the element 4 perpendicularly. Permeability is ensured sufficiently by ferromagnetic thin films 4b, 4c formed on the opposite sides of a nonmagnetic metal layer 4a of Cu and thereby lowering of reproduced output is restrained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the end faces of magnetic cores from functioning as a pseudo gap and to improve recording and reproducing characteristics. CONSTITUTION:A lower magnetic film 7 and an upper magnetic film 8 are laminated on a substrate, by which a magnetic circuit part is constituted. The lower magnetic film 7 and upper magnetic film 8 are disposed to face each other with a gap material 10 in-between near the surface (ABS face 2a) facing a magnetic recording medium. The end faces of the lower magnetic film 7 and upper magnetic film 8 facing the above-mentioned ABS face 2a are formed to such a shape that the ends of the surfaces opposite to the surfaces (gap forming surfaces 7a, 8a) in contact with the above-mentioned gap material 10 are nonparallel with the above-mentioned front gap g1. There is a method for etching the lower magnetic film 7 and upper magnetic film 8 to prescribed patterns from the ABS surface side after the formation of the lower magnetic film 7 and upper magnetic film 8 as the method for controlling the shape of the end faces in such a manner.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve a higher patterning accuracy of a conductor coil and an upper magnetic body with easy flattening of a lower magnetic body by covering a magnetic core, i.e. lower magnetic body, formed on a substrate with an insulation film to grind the film flat until the magnetic core is exposed. CONSTITUTION:A first magnetic core 3 is formed on a substrate 1 as lower magnetic body and a protective film 4 is formed covering the first magnetic core 3. Then, the protective film 4 is ground flat until the first magnetic core 3 is exposed, a conductor coil 11 is formed on the first magnetic core through an insulation film 8 and a second magnetic core 13 is formed as upper magnetic body. This facilitates the fattening of the lower magnetic body without degrading a magnetic characteristic while achieving a higher patterning accuracy of the conductor coil and the upper magnetic body.
