    Abstract: Disclosed is a color liquid crystal display (LCD) apparatus employing a transmissive color liquid crystal display panel. The apparatus includes, as a light source, a main white light source (21) having a three wavelength phosphorescent lamp emitting light with three or more wavelengths, and an auxiliary light source (22) having at least one of a red light emitting diode (22R), a green light emitting diode (22G) and a blue light emitting diode (22B).
