Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the convenience of use by compressing data of plural still pictures and storing the result into a 2nd memory circuit and sending the stored still pictures at a batch. CONSTITUTION:The transmitter contains a 1st memory circuit 40 storing one still picture of a 1st picture data DG and a 2nd memory circuit 50 storing 2nd picture data whose data are compressed for plural still pictures. Then plural still pictures whose picture data are compressed are stored in the 2nd memory circuit 60 to send or receive plural still pictures at a batch as required. Thus, the use of convenience is improved with simple installation.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To retrieve an objective original and to improve the operability with pattern recognition, by collecting pattern data within a prescribed range of a plurality of originals and forming a picture for indexing having the prescribed range of pattern. CONSTITUTION:When the original input mode is obtained through the operation of a keyboard 22, a CPU11 controls the program so that data picked up with an image reader 21 are written in a frame memory 31 according to the program of an ROM12. The data written in the memory 31 are thinned out at a shrinking circuit and transferred to the image memory 32, and the data in the memory 32 and characters and symbols stored in a character memory 33 are displayed on a CRT41. The keyboard is operated while observing the displayed picture and a plurality of pattern data within a prescribed range of the originals are collected to form a picture for indexing, and after these data are stored in an RAM13, they are stored in a VTR51 of a large capacity storage device. The index picture data from the VTR51 are transferred to the memory 31 to display an objective picture on the CRT41, allowing to make the retrieval operation easy.

In such a constitution, the work is shared for processors P0-P5, etc., of respective sub-systems, and for each section data in accordance with sharing, the processing is executed successively, simultaneously and in parallel through an arbitrating device part installed the device 2. Thus, even when the general-use device is used, the highly speedy data can be processed as a whole.

Next, the form where a drawing is described is set in a transmitting part 9 of a fascimile device 8 and is read, and data is stored in a buffer memory 12. When a screen display instruction is given from a keyboard 7, this picture is displayed on the device 13. Next, while watching the displayed picture, an area of the editing object and a desired position are determined by a position selecting part 15, and a frame is determined. A reduction rate is desingated by the keyboard 7. As the result, a video with sentences and the drawing combined appears on the display surface. Next, when an instruction to form a hard copy is given, character data stored in a memory 20 is expanded and is stored in the memory 12 and is outputted to the device 8.
