    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve adhesiveness, printability and taste characteristics by providing an easy adhesive coating film layer on the single surface of a polyester film and setting the surface tension of the other surface of the polyester film to a specific value. SOLUTION: An easy adhesive coating film layer is provided on the single surface of a polyester film and the surface tension of the other surface of the polyester film is set to 45 mN/m or more. As a method for forming the coating film layer, an in-line coating method wherein a coating agent is applied to the polyester film before orientation/crystallization is completed and the coated film is stretched at least unidirectionally to be heat-treated to complete orientation/crystallization is pref. from a viewpoint of the uniform formation of a coating film or productivity. It is most pref. to form the easy adhesive coating film layer from a polyester resin and the thickness of the coating film is pref. 0.001-1 μm from a viewpoint of adhesiveness and the recovery/ reutilization properties of the film. The heat shrinkage factors of the film in the longitudinal and lateral directions thereof at 80 deg.C are set to 0.4% or less and the ethylene glycol content of the film is pref. 0.01-3.5 wt.% The m.p. of the film is set to 240-280 deg.C and the intrinsic viscosity thereof is pref. 0.55-0.75.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a biaxially drawn polyester film with excellent laminating properties, molding processability, impact resistance, taste characteristics and content taking-out characteristics and consisting of two pieces and being suitable for metal cans for foods by specifying facial orientation factor and m.p. SOLUTION: From the viewpoint of laminating properties, molding processability and impact resistance, the facial orientation factor (fn) of a biaxially drawn film is set to 0.120-0.145. In addition, from the viewpoint of taste characteristics, heat resistance and laminating properties, m.p. of a polyester film is set at 240-280 deg.C. In addition, from the viewpoint of molding processability and impact resistance, endothermic peak temp. (Ts) accompanied with heat treatment in preparation of the film measured by means of a differential scanning calorimeter(DSC) is set at 120-230 deg.C. In addition, from the viewpoint of laminating properties, molding processability and impact resistance, difference between the refractive index (nX) in the longer direction of the film and the refractive index (nY) in the width direction (birefringence: Δn=nX-nY) is set to(-0.001)-(-0.050).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject film with ethylene terephthalate unit as the main constitutive component, having specific physical properties, excellent in taste-affording characteristics, laminating character and heat resistance, capable of laminating at relatively row temperatures, and excellent in forming processability as well, therefore useful as an inner surface coating film for metallic cans for foods. SOLUTION: This film for laminating use is such one as to consist mainly of ethylene terephtalate unit as constitutive component and have the difference between the refractive index in the longitudinal direction (nX) and that in the cross direction (nY) (birefringence: Δn=nX-nY) of -0.001 to -0.050 and have a melting point of pref. >=246 deg.C; furthermore for this film, it is preferable that the ratio of the thermal shrinkage stress in the cross direction to that in the longitudinal direction is >=1.3, the refractive index in the cross direction is 1.650-1.675, and the endothermic peak temperature associated with heat treatment using differential scanning calorimetry is 120-230 deg.C.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a film having excellent formability, adhesion after being retorted, and taste characteristics by using a polyester A containing a specified amount of p-hydroxybenzoic acid component and having a specified melting point as the main component. SOLUTION: A polyester A has a p-hydroxybenzoic acid component content of 0.05-20 mol% and a melting point of 200-280 deg.C, desirably, 246-280 deg.C. It is desirable that the film contains 0.01-0.3 wt.% particles having an aspect ratio (the ratio of the maximum particle length to the minimum particle length) of at least 1.1 and has a free dicarboxylic acid monomethly ester content of below 5 ppm. It is desirable that layer B of a laminate prepared by laying a layer of polyester B having a melting point of 200-245 deg.C on at least either surface of a layer of polyester A is heat-laminated with a metallic sheet. The obtained laminate has adhesive property to metals and formability suitable for use as an inner coating film of a two-piece metallic can manufactured by draw forming or as a coating film on the body, cover, and bottom of a three- piece can.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a polyester film excellent in adhesion and esp. suitable for metal cans by forming the film with a polyester including a specific quantity of neopentyl glycol and having a specific unit as a principal structural one. SOLUTION: This objective film (pref. biaxially-oriented film) is produced by constituting the film of a polyester including 1-40 mol.% (pref. 2-35 mol.%, more pref. 4-25 mol.%) and having ethylene terephthalate and/or ethylene naphthalate unit as principal structural one. The principal melting temperature, (i.e., melting peak temperature detected by 1st run in differential scanning calorimetry) of the film is pref. 150-265 deg.C, more pref. 200-265 deg.C, furthermore pref. 246-260 deg.C. The film pref. includes particles having >=1.1 shape factor D/d (defined by the ratio of the maximum length D of particles to the minimum length d) in a content of 0.01-0.5 wt.%.

SOLUTION: This film is obtained by laminating an A-layer based on polyester with a melt peak temp. of 215-245 deg.C and a B-layer based on polyester B with a melt peak temp. of 245-260 deg.C in the order of A/B/A. In this case, a surface orientation coefficient is 0.095-0.130 and the heat skrinkage stress in the longitudinal direction of the film at 125 deg.C is set to 0.1-1 Mpa.
