    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the subject film containing specific amounts of two specific kinds of inert particles, having high scratch resistance, effective in preventing the damage of a magnetic layer applied to the film and suitable as a base film for magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:The objective film contains two kinds of inert particles A and B. The particle A has an average particle diameter d1 of 10-500nm and a Mohs hardness of >=6 and its content in the film is 0.2-2.0wt.%. The particle B has an average particle diameter d2 of 300-1,500nm and larger than the average diameter d1 of the particle A, a Mohs hardness of 1. The surface resistivity of the film is preferably OMEGA.cm.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title film excellent in abrasion resistance and travelling performance by biaxially orienting an unstretched film of a polyester containing a specified amount of metallic particles by biaxial stretching. CONSTITUTION:An unstretched film of a polyester (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate) containing 0.005-5wt.% metallic particles of a mean particle diameter of 0.01-3mum comprising at least one member selected from among the elements of Groups VIII, Ib, IIb, IIIb and IVb of the periodic table (e.g. Fe, Co, Ni, Pd, Sn, Cu, Ag, Au, Al or Pb) is biaxially oriented by biaxial stretching to obtain the title film desirably having a standard deviation of the heights of the protrusions formed on the surface of 20-650nm.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the title film producing tapes having surface to be slightly damaged even by high-speed travel and image qualities (ratio of signal/noise) not lowering in dubbing process by blending a polyester with specific silicon carbide particles to exhibit fixed properties. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially orientated film comprising a polyester and silicon carbide particles having 0.01-2.0mum average particle diameter, >=14cm Raman crystallized index of total reflection on at least one side of film and =0.6. A polyester comprising ethylene terephthalate as a main constituent component is especially preferable because of further improvement in dubbing properties and scratching resistance. The silicon carbide particles are preferably triangular-decagonal.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the recording medium which withstands the higher speed of a calendering stage and the higher speed of dubbing and winding by forming the magnetic recording medium which is incorporated with org. high-polymer particles in a base material film and contains inorg. particles in one of magnetic layers and specifying the sphericity of the org. high-polymer particles and the standard deviation of the height distribution of surface projections to specific ranges. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer is provided on one face of the base material film essentially consisting of polyester. The magnetic layer 0.1-20wt.% inorg. particles and the base film contains 0.01-8.0wt.% inert high-polymer particles. The org. high-polymer particles are required to be the inert particles which do not make covalent bonding, etc., with the polyester. The sphericity of the high-polymer particles is 1.2 and the standard deviation of the projection height distribution on at least one face of the base material film is in a 40-250nm range. The surface resistant to flawing is obtd. in this way and the degradation in image quality by dubbing is obviated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film whose scratch resistance and dubbing resistance at the time of running are favorable and running properties at the time when the film is made into a tape are excellent, by specifying a parameter of surface roughness of the film, thermal shrinkage stress and their combination. CONSTITUTION:A ratio Rp/Ra (their units are both nm) between mean surface roughness Ra on the center line and a depth Rp of the center line of at least on a side of a film mainly comprised of a composition comprised of polyester and an inactive inorganic particle is 4-25. The product Rz.S between thermal shrinkage stress S (kg/mm ) of a longitudinal direction at 90 deg.C and mean surface roughness Rz, (nm) at ten points of at least on the side falls within a range of 0.5-21.5. Thermal shrinkage stress of the longitudinal direction at 60 deg.C is under 0.09kg/mm . Colloidal silica, synthetic calcium carbonate, alpha-alumina and rutile type titanium dioxide are especially preferable as a kind of the in active inorganic particle. It is especially preferable that a form of an inorganic particle is spherical substantially. It is effective to add a matter obtained by mixing the inactive inorganic particle into ethylene glycol in a form of slurry to contain the inactive inorganic particle into the fixed polyester.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to improve the surface strength and dimensional stability of a biaxially oriented polyester film comprising a polyester, a polyolefin and inert inorganic particles by specifying the molecular weight, crosswise strength at break and average height of protrusions on either surface. CONSTITUTION:This biaxially oriented polyester film is based on a composition comprising 90-99.8wt.%, particularly, 95-99% polyester (A) mainly consisting of ethylene terephthalate units, 0.2-10wt.%, particularly, 1-5wt.% polyolefin (B), desirably, polypropylene and 0.3-1.5wt.%, particularly, 0.4-0.8wt.% inert inorganic particles (C), desirably, colloidal silica of a mean particle diameter of 0.15-1.2mum prepared by the alkoxide process, wherein an Mn of component B is 6000-30000, desirably, 10000-27000, an Mw/Mn ratio =50%, desirably, >=80% and an average protrusion height on at least either surface is 20-500nm, desirably, 40-200nm. This film is desirable as a magnetic recording medium.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve remarkably Young's modulus and dimensional stability by treating the biaxially oriented film of polyether ester in two stages at a specified temperature. CONSTITUTION:The polyether polyester film containing ethylene alpha,beta-bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylate as main repeated units, is biaxially oriented. This thin film is treated at the temperature equal to 150 deg.C or more and lower than 230 deg.C at first stage, and then it is instantly treated at the temperature equal to 230 deg.C or more and lower than 270 deg.C at second stage. The obtained film is excellent in Young's modulus, dimensional stability, thickness unevenness and tear strength, and moreover in heat treatment property, and then it is useful for a magnetic tape or the base film for a condenser.
