Abstract:
The present invention provides a filter apparatus for use in air pollution control which includes at least one hollow filter cartridge disposed within a housing cabinet. Contaminated air is introduced into the housing cabinet through an inlet and is caused to flow into an exhaust chamber adjacent the housing cabinet after passing through the filter cartridges in the housing cabinet to remove airborne particulates. Compressed air injectors are also provided for selectively directing a reverse pulse of air into the openings of the filter cartridges from the exhaust chamber side thereof so that the reverse air pulse enters the filter cartridges and flows through the filter medium in the reverse direction of that of the contamined air flow to thereby remove accumulated contaminates from the filter medium. In order to improve periodic cleaning of the filters, elongated deflecting inserts are disposed within the filter cartridges to reduce the internal volume of the filter cartridges. The compressed air injectors include preferably tapered nozzles positioned and aligned with a corresponding opening such that the reverse air pulses can deflect off of the inserts disposed within the walls of the filter cartridges and, as a result, against substantially the entire interior surface of the filter medium so as to effect even cleaning of substantially the entire length of the filter assembly.
Abstract:
A filter is provided which combines a woven wire mesh (14) over a supporting body. The supporting body is typically a metal perforated tube which provides fluid communication between the well bore and the production equipment string. The woven wire mesh (14) acts as a filter to prevent the influx of sand particles (30), provides openings oriented at various angles relative to its surface, so that some area is available for fluid entry even when particulate matter is lodged on the surface above an opening, provides interior channels that allow fluid to travel from one location on the mesh surface to another location over an opening into the supporting body, and does not provide "straight-through" openings, thus forcing the fluid to make multiple turns (28) to pass through the mesh, thereby dissipating the fluid's energy and increases the mesh's erosion resistance. When particulate matter accumulates on the mesh's surface, the resulting particle cake remains porous, heightening the filter's resistance to plugging.
Abstract:
A filter cartridge includes a substantially cylindrical filter media having a first end and a second end wherein the second end has an opening adaptable to receive a fluid outlet. The filter media is adapted to allow fluid to pass from an exterior of the filter media to an interior space of the filter media. A divider is positioned adjacent to the exterior of the filter media, and the divider has a closed end connected to the first end of the filter media and an open end that is longitudinally-spaced from the second end of the filter media such that at least a portion of the filter media located adjacent to the second end of the filter media is not directly adjacent to the divider. The divider extends a majority of the distance from the first end to the second end of the filter media.
Abstract:
A filter device has a filter housing (1) receiving a filter element (11) defining a longitudinal axis and being in the form of a filter cartridge. An end cap (19) forms an enclosure for the relevant end rim of the filter material (23, 25). The end cap fixes the position of the filter element (11) in its functional position by being on an element receiver (13) that interacts with the bottom part (7) of the filter housing (1). The element receiver (13) and the assigned end cap (19) of the filter element (11), on their parts (17 and 15) coming into engagement with one another in the functional position of the filter element are provided with shaped irregularities matched to one another to enable the engagement in a positional relationship directed towards one another.
Abstract:
A filter element (1) for filtering fluids, such as hydraulic fluids or gases, is in a filter housing (12) having an inlet (18) for the fluid to be filtered, an outlet (20) for the filtered fluid. The filter element has a data storage (52). Data stored in the data storage (52) is electronically readable from the data storage (52) by a read and/or write device (70). An antenna (60) extends outside the data storage (52) and provides the signal coupling between the data storage (52) and the read and/or write device (70). The antenna (60) extends at least in sections about a longitudinal axis (44) of the filter element (1) such that independently from the angular position of the filter element (1) and the attached data storage (52) a signal coupling between the data storage (52) and the read and/or write device (70) is ensured.
Abstract:
A fluid filter includes a filter element having a filtering media disposed between two endplates. One endplate includes an open flow passage that allows a working fluid to flow into or out of the media during operation. The other endplate includes a connection structure. A cover houses the filter element, and has an opening that is an inlet or outlet in fluid communication with the opening of the one endplate. The cover includes another fill opening proximate the other endplate. A cap is connected to the connection structure of the other endplate to close the opening of the cover. The cover is retained between the cap and other endplate. Generally, the attachment configuration between the cap and the other endplate of the filter element helps ensure that the filter element with the correct micron rating is installed in a filtration system.

Abstract:
A fluid filter assembly having a relief valve for visually indicating the life of a filter element. The fluid filter assembly of the present invention provides a vertical, transparent housing having a fluid inlet for communicating a fluid into the housing and a fluid outlet for communicating fluid downstream of said housing. A filter element is disposed within the housing between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet for filtering the fluid. In the preferred embodiment, a frusto-conical divider is connected to the top of the filter element and extends downward adjacent a bottom portion of the filter element wherein the fluid from the inlet rises between the filter element and the inside of the divider and between the outside of the divider and an inside surface of the housing. A relief valve is provided in the top of the filter element and is in communication with the unfiltered and filtered side of the filter element. The relief valve opens at a predetermined pressure level across the filter element thereby raising the fluid level and providing a visual indicator that the filter element needs replacement.
