    Abstract: A lane departure prevention device includes departure prevention control means that performs control to prevent deviation from a lane based on a result of detection means such as sensors and a camera, driver's intention determination means that determines driver's steering intention and actuator activation limiting means that limits activation of an actuator based on the driver's steering intention from the driver's intention determination means. The driver's intention determination means calculates a variation ΔTh in the steering torque detected and a variation ΔTs in the control command value to a steering actuator, and determines that, when |ΔTh|−|ΔTs| is a threshold or more, driver's operational intention is present and limits the activation of the departure prevention control. This can avoid the interruption of departure prevention control in response to activation of an actuator for lane departure avoidance that a driver does not intend because of erroneous detection that a driver intends as such.

    Abstract: Method and arrangement for controlling a subsystem of a vehicle dependent upon a sensed level of driver inattentiveness to vehicle driving tasks. A variable characteristic is measured, on a substantially real-time basis, which correlates to the driver's inattentiveness. The level of inattentiveness is assessed based at least in part on the measurement. The performance of a subsystem of the vehicle, such as cruise control or lane keeping support, is tailored, based thereupon, to assure that behavior of the vehicle appropriately matches the driver's present level of inattentiveness. The subsystem's operation is controlled in an effort to avoid or prevent the establishment of driving conditions that become inherently more dangerous as the driver's level of inattentiveness increases.

    Abstract: A warning apparatus for a vehicle determines a contact possibility of the vehicle contacting with an object that is present in front of the vehicle according to a relative distance between the vehicle and the front object, a relative speed between the vehicle and the front object, and the like, and provides a contact possibility warning by changing at least one of the driving torque and braking torque of the vehicle according to the contact possibility. The warning apparatus detects, an intention of the driver of the vehicle to bring the vehicle closer to the front object in a steady driving state of the vehicle by, for example, changing a lane of the vehicle. The warning apparatus calculates a correction value to change the driving torque or braking torque according to a result of the detection, delays the timing of providing the contact possibility warning, and controls braking force.
