Abstract: The invention relates to a spillage protection system for a storage vessel in the event a breach of the hull occurs. The system comprises sheets of lath work panels extending from longitudinal and transverse supporting members of the vessel hull for forming sub-compartments therein. The sheets of lath work panels are comprised of a plurality of apertures therein for providing characteristics of strength and porosity to the structure. The system further comprises a distribution system extending through the hull of the vessel and into each of the sub-compartments. The distribution system originates at a reservoir which supplies a foamable cast-cure plastic material to the distribution system and effectively delivers the foamable cast-cure plastic material to a sub-compartment adjacent to an area of the hull experiencing the breach. In addition, the protective system comprises a sensing system in each sub-compartment for detecting a breach in the hull, as well as a control system for delivering the foamable cast-cure plastic material to an area of the hull being compromised. Accordingly, upon a breach of the hull, a fire resistant foamable cast-cure plastic material is delivered to a sub-compartment adjacent to the breach thereby forcing the seawater out of the sub-compartment and effectively sealing the breach.

Abstract: A plastic paddle is pivotally connected to the operating arm of a microswitch. The paddle is positioned in front of a boat's drain opening. The paddle can be swivelled to one side to allow removal of the boat's drain plug. When the plug is removed and the paddle lies in front of the drain opening, if the boat is launched without replacing the drain plug, the inrushing water will move the paddle so as to close the microswitch and actuate an alarm. Enough of the drain hole is left uncovered by the paddle to allow water to drain out of the boat.

Abstract: An apparatus for indicating breakage of a tensioned rope, or chain or the like by firing flares or other warning signals. In the preferred embodiment, an auxiliary cable running parallel to the towing or mooring cable is used to actuate firing of a first flare and to simultaneously activate a timing mechanism. Said timing mechanism fires a series of flares in a predetermined sequence. This combination allows both an immediate indication of a hazard and quick localization and recovery of a detached boat or vehicle.
