Abstract:
A warning system comprising an advanced preemption system is provided to provide warning of an additional advanced preemption time directly from a wayside inspector to a city traffic controller to turn one or more traffic lights red on a route intersecting with the railroad crossing. The advanced preemption system includes a first set of wireless magnetometers to be installed on a railway track of the railroad crossing on a first side of the railroad crossing. The first set of wireless magnetometers to be located at an advanced preemption crossing start activation point that is being at a distance before an existing crossing start activation point of the railroad crossing to provide the warning of the additional advanced preemption time.
Abstract:
A transmitter device for a sensor device detects a magnetic field change caused by an object approaching or moving past the sensor device, in particular by a wheel of a rail vehicle. The transmitter device has at least two alternating-current-fed transmitter oscillating circuits. In order to implement error disclosure of the sensor device in a particularly simple manner, the at least two transmitter oscillating circuits are formed in such a way that the resonance frequencies thereof are different from each other. A sensor device and a method for detecting a magnetic field change are also provided.
Abstract:
Provided is a wheel detector for detecting a wheel of a rail vehicle, including two detector channels. Each channel includes a coil unit which is connected with a measurement and feeding module for feeding the coil unit with an output signal of the measurement and feeding module. A decision module of the respective channel is bi-directionally connected to the measurement and feeding module. The measurement and feeding module of each channel includes a temperature measurement module and/or a module for measurement of mechanical vibration, that is/are connected with an input/inputs of a decision module of the channel. The decision modules are connected via a bidirectional digital interface. The decision module of one channel is connected via a bidirectional digital interface with a data transmission module for communication with a supervisory system via a data transmission line.
Abstract:
Highway crossing gate control circuit in which a permanent magnet motor is controlled to drive up and drive down the gate arm by utilization of a single motor control relay and controller contacts which sense the position of the gate arm. The motor polarity is reversed through utilization of the motor control relay, which is operated by a single up input signal. Provision is included for dynamic breaking on the arm moving downward after an initial drive down mode.
Abstract:
An adjustable scanning range is provided for vehicle-activated measuring equipment of the type which includes receiver coils positioned on opposite sides of a transmitter such that voltages induced in the received coils from the transmitter are altered as the vehicle passes, the measuring occurring through the application of the induced voltages to a comparison circuit. Altering the input(s) to the comparison circuit by a constant voltage value allows the scanning range to be adjusted.
Abstract:
Magnetic fields of electrical operating components of electric-traction-motor powered vehicles, especially diesel electric and all-electric railway locomotives, are sensed as the vehicles pass given locations along their respective paths of travel, and the signals so obtained are processed to yield perceptible outputs, such as oscillograph charts or computer printouts, indicative of performance and any maintenance work that must be done for maximum utilization of available energy. In instances in which speed of the vehicle is a significant factor, that information is ascertained and utilized in the processing of the signals derived from sensing the magnetic fields. The apparatus comprises one or more magnetic field sensors, such as standard relay coils, strategically located with respect to the path of travel of the vehicle, and information processing equipment adapted to receive signals from the sensors and speed information, if significant, and to provide a perceptible output indicative of performance and any maintenance work required.
Abstract:

Abstract:
This device detects the proximity of magnetic objects, and comprises a permanent magnet associated with a spaced reed relay which has its contact normally held in an actuated position by the flux from the magnet. Such contact is released when flux from the magnet is diverted to a different path by the presence of a magnetic body; but restoration of normal flux from permanent magnet does not actuate the contact. A coil surrounding the reed relay contact is energized from a repeater relay when the reed contact is released. Thus, oscillation occurs during the detection of an object but stops during the absence of such object. Relay means is provided to be responsive to the steady state condition of the repeater relay, but to be unresponsive to an oscillatory condition. Such relay means, when responsive to the steady state of the reed relay contact, also provides a slight holding effect in addition to the normal flux from the permanent magnet to render the reed relay contact less responsive to the diversion of flux from the permanent magnet; but, when the reed relay contact is once released, such holding effect is removed so that the oscillatory condition is steadily maintained until the magnetic object is removed and the diversion of flux is stopped. This provides a positive acting and a sensitive proximity detector for relatively high speed operation.
