The invention relates to compressed chewing gum tablet (37) comprising a chewing gum center (38), said gum center (38) comprising a compression of gum base granules (32) and chewing gum additives (33), said chewing gum additives comprising sweeteners and flavors, at least a first part of said gum base granules (32) comprising granules of flavor incorporated gum base. At least a second part of said gum base granules (32) comprising granules of conventional gum base.

There is provided a novel degradable gum base comprising low molecular weight elastomer replacement compounds which are generally applicable for chewing gum formulations. In particular there is provided a gum base and a chewing gum comprising a polyester polymer obtainable by the polymerisation of two or more different cyclic ester monomers, wherein the cyclic ester monomers have a low glass transition temperature (Tg) and the polyester polymer has a glass transition temperature (Tg) in the range from (-20 °C) to (-80 °C).

There is provided, a novel degradable gum resin replacement compound, which is generally applicable for chewing gum formulations. In particular, a gum base and a chewing gum comprising a polyester co-polymer obtainable by the polymerisation of cyclic esters and wherein the co-polymer has a glass transition temperature (Tg) in the range from 20 to 38 °C.

The present invention relates to the use of a polyester as an elastomer component for gum bases. The application also relates to a method of making gum bases which com¬ prise such polyesters. The polyester comprises as polyester-forming components in con¬ densed form a) at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, b) at least one aliphatic diol and c) at least one compound having at least three groups capable of ester formation in an amount of from 0.1 to 10.0 % by weight, based on the total weight of the poly¬ ester, wherein the polyester comprises the components a) and b) in an amount of at least 90, in particular at least 95 % by weight, based on the total weight of the polyester.

A chewing gum comprising at least one biodegradable polymer, sweetener in an amount from about 0.5% to about 95% of said chewing gum, one or more flavoring agents, filler in an amount from about 0 to 50% by weight of said chewing gum, further chewing gum ingredients and at least one enzyme, wherein said at least one enzyme is comprised in a hydrophobic enzyme formulation. According to the invention, it has been established that an enzymatically activated degradation may by obtained when applying a hydrophobic enzyme formulation even though the hydrophobic enzyme formulation, e.g. when applying a dispersion of substantially hydrophilic enzymes in a hydrophobic medium such as oil, might be suspected to have a negative influence on the functionality of the enzymes at the active sites of the applied enzyme.
