A confectionery product including a polymer system, flavor and sweetener, wherein at least 20% by weight of the confectionery product includes substantially non-elastomeric polymer and less than about 5% by weight of the confectionery product including one or a combination of elastomeric polymers, wherein the confectionery product is characterized by having a tan (delta) above 1 measured at a frequency of about 1 Hz. and wherein the tan (delta) is defined as (loss modulus G″/storage modulus G′). According to the present invention, a new confectionery product has been obtained having texture properties emulating toffee but including a part, which is retained in the mouth during chewing.

The invention relates to a method for producing chewing gum granules. The method comprises at least the steps of feeding a gum composition including at least gum base into an extruder (2), pressurizing the gum composition in the extruder, extruding the gum composition through a die plate (5), and cutting the extruded gum composition in a liquid filled chamber (4). The extruded gum composition comprises at least 71% Wt, gum base and the cut granules are included in compressed gum tablets. The invention further relates to a chewing gum product, and to a chewing gum granulating system.

The present invention pertains to a method of producing a compressed tablet in a rotary tablet press. The method including the steps of adding a first powdered portion of tablet base material into a punch die of a rotary tablet press, pressing the first tablet base material by means of an upper and a lower punch to obtain a first pressed material, inserting an object at the upper face of the first pressed material and fixing the object in a central cavity of the first pressed material, adding a second powdered portion of tablet base material into the punch die of the rotary tablet press, and pressing the first and second tablet base material around the object to enclose the object from the surface of the tablet. The object is based on a material different from the first and/or the second powdered portion of tablet base material.

The invention relates to a chewing gum tablet comprising at least a first module cohered to a second module, wherein the first module comprises at least 5% by weight of compressed chewing gum base material, and wherein the tablet comprises chewing gum ingredients and wherein at least one of said modules is compressed by a force of more than 13.0 kN. According to the invention, an improved multi modular chewing gum tablet has been obtained featuring both advantageous release properties and textural properties due to the applied punch force.

The invention relates to a packaged confectionary product comprising a biodegradable chewing gum composition and a package assembly forming a humidity barrier to the biodegradable chewing gum composition (11; 21; 31; 41). According to an embodiment of the invention significant reduction of pre- degradation of gum polymers may be obtained if the confectionary product is encapsulated within a package assembly which comprises a humidity barrier to the chewing gum composition contained in the package.

The invention relates to a chewing gum comprising chewing gum ingredients, said chewing gum comprising at least one elastomer and at least one resin, said at least one resin comprising at least one synthetic biodegradable homopolymer resin, the amount of said synthetic biodegradable homopolymer of said chewing gum being from about 1 / 2 % to 60% by weight of said chewing gum. The obtained non-tack properties combined with acceptable chew feel is according to an embodiment of the invention obtained by a combination of a biodegradable homopolymer and an elastomer in the chewing gum.

The invention relates to chewing gum comprising at least two different biodegradable polymers. According to the invention, a chewing gum comprising at least two different biodegradable polymers exhibits an improved texture prior to any adding of for example softeners. It has been realized that the desired chewing gum texture properties, contrary to every expectation and any prior art disclosures, may actually be obtained when combining biodegradable chewing gum polymers, for example in the gum base or in the final gum.
