Abstract:
Apparatus for operating a shaft furnace, whereby an upper section of the shaft furnace is charged with raw materials which due to gravity descend inside the furnace while the atmosphere prevailing within the shaft furnace causes part of the raw materials to melt and/or to be reduced, and in a lower section of the shaft furnace a process gas is injected so as to at least partly modify the atmosphere prevailing in the shaft furnace. The pressure and/or volume flow of the injected process gas is dynamically modulated within a time span of 40 s. Also, a shaft furnace operable by said method, thus achieving improved through-gassing.
Abstract:
A battery current sensing device for the battery of a vehicle includes a current sensor, a substrate having a measuring circuit, and a connecting element having first and second ends. The current sensor is connected to the battery to receive current flow of the battery. One end of the connecting element is electrically and mechanically connected to the substrate and the other end of the connecting element is electrically and mechanically connected to the current sensor such that the connecting element electrically and mechanically connects the substrate in a fixed position to the current sensor with the measuring circuit being electrically connected to the current sensor. The first end of the connecting element includes a press-fit contact for establishing the connection to one of the current sensor and the substrate.
Abstract:
Novel 3-amino-1-benzoxepine derivatives and methods for their production are disclosed. These derivatives correspond to the Formula I ##STR1## wherein: R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently of one another arehydrogen,C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl,C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl substituted with a terminal phenyl, or a phenyl containing one or two halogens, methyl or methoxy groups, a 3,4-methylenedioxy or a 3,4-ethylenedioxy group,C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 alkyl substituted with terminal hydroxy or methoxy or,C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkenyl; orone of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl and the other is a C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 alkyl substituted with a terminal NR.sub.7 R.sub.8 ;R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 independently of one another are hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl; orR.sub.7 and R.sub.8 are together a 5 to 7 member ring or said ring having heterogeneous oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen, orR.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are together a 5 to 7 member ring or said ring having heterogeneous oxygen, sulfur or NR.sub.9 ;R.sub.9 is hydrogen, methyl, benzyl, or phenyl;one of R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is hydrogen and the other hydroxy, orR.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together are oxygen;R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 independently of one another are hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylthio; orone of R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 is trifluoromethyl or nitro and the other is hydrogen; the stereo isomers and the acid addition salts thereof. These compounds have a favorable effect upon the motility of the gastro-intestinal tract and, therefore, constitute the active ingredient of pharmaceutical compositions and methods for the treatment of motility disorders.
Abstract:
A process for the production of steel with increased ductility in which a sulfur-containing steel melt is deoxidized and, if desired, is supplied with alloying elements, the deoxidized melt being treated with magnesium or with both magnesium and calcium as part of a purification action simultaneously reducing the sulfur content, and the reaction is carried out in a casting ladle having a lining free from siliceous oxides. The melt is covered with a synthetic slag free from siliceous oxides and the magnesium-containing substance is introduced in fine-grain particulate form into the melt in a carrier gas at a level at least 2000 mm below the melt surfade and at a rate which is less than the maximum rate at which the magnesium-containing substance is capable of reacting with the melt.
Abstract:
A cover device suitable for casting vessels or the like is constructed to have an annular edge portion connected to the vessel by spring means. The cover has also a central portion corresponding to opening of the edge portion and a locking means is provided for locking the central portion with said edge portion.
Abstract:
An improved panel support for use in partitioning display shelves which is positionable at any location along the length of the shelf without the necessity of having a supporting structure at the front edge of the shelf comprising a slotted L-shaped holder employing a bifurcated cam-shaped protrusion which is grasped by a correspondingly profiled clamping strip mounted on the shelf along which the holder may be moved.
