A method and an apparatus for using protection band as data subcarrier for transmitting the signal in a communication system are provided to increase frequency efficiency by utilizing protection band as data subcarrier. A frequency synchronization is obtained through preamble about a first FA(300). The information about a first addition radio resource is received(302). By using the whole radio resource including the first addition radio resource, the first network entry procedure is performed(304). Among the first network entry process execution, the frequency overlay decided operation is negotiated(306). The information about the second addition radio resource is received(308). By using the whole radio resource including the second addition radio resource, the secondary network entry procedure is performed(310).

An apparatus and a method for composing a diversity sub channel in a wireless communication system are provided to use resources which are not used even though the resources are allocated to a band selection sub channel, thereby composing a diversity sub channel. A band selection sub channel composing unit performs permutation of a sub band unit about resources composing a sub channel. The band selection sub channel composing unit composes a band selection sub channel by using a sub band selected as a resource. A diversity sub channel composing unit(725) composes a diversity sub channel of the resource allocation unit by using resources which are not selected as resources for the band selection sub channel and a resource allocation unit of the remaining sub band. The diversity sub channel composing unit performs permutation of a tone unit about the remaining resources to compose a diversity sub channel of a tone unit.

An apparatus and a method for composing a diversity sub channel in a wireless communication system are provided to perform permutation of a small resource unit about downlink control information allocated to a diversity sub channel area, thereby composing the diversity sub channel. A diversity sub channel of a resource allocation unit is composed by performing permutation about resources allocated for the diversity sub channel. When a diversity sub channel of a tone unit is composed, resources for the diversity sub channel of a tone unit is checked among resources to which permutation of the resource allocation unit is applied. The diversity sub channel of the tone unit is composed by performing permutation of a tone unit using a tone pair composed of two successive tones about the checked resources(813).

An apparatus for allocating resource and a method thereof for reducing the overhead due to resource allocation information in a broadband wireless communications system are provided to perform a process for releasing the allocation of bit of a bit map without using radio resource. A resource allocating unit(504) binds a plurality of terminals by a group. The resource allocator produces bitmap for informing the radio resource assignment. A message generator(506) produces a resource allocation message including the bitmap. A transmitter transmits the resource allocation message. The resource allocation message includes the message sequence number or the bit allocation sequence number for the bit allocation alteration of the bitmap.

An apparatus and a method for removing echo signal by using pilot tone signal in a communication system are provided to remove echo signal by using the pilot tone of each symbol by acquiring the echo signal elimination factor obtained based on the pilot tone signal. An echo signal elimination factor generator(217) calculates the response channel impulse response by using a pilot tone extracted from the received signal. The repercussions channel impulse response is used as the echo talker elimination factor generator and generates the echo talker elimination factor. An echo canceller(219) applies the echo talker elimination factor to the received signal by receiving the echo signal. A transmitter(225) transmits the signal from which the echo signal is removed.

A fixing apparatus for allocating resource and a method in a broadband wireless communications system for reducing overhead due to assignment information about a static allocation radio resource in a broadband wireless communications system are provided to reduce overhead by resource allocation information. The location of the radio resource which is additionally allocated according to MCS(Modulation and Coding Scheme) level. The resource allocation message including a generator(506) is the information of the extra allocation expressed as one-dimension or the deleted radio resource. Disclosed is a method for determining a forward data rate and a forward transmission power level in a mobile communication system. An access terminal measures a C/I of a forward pilot channel, determines a forward data rate by matching the measured C/I with a reference C/I, creates a difference between the measured C/I and the reference C/I as margin information, and transmits the determined forward data rate and margin information over a reverse transmission channel. Upon receipt of the forward data rate and margin information, an access network decreases a transmission power level by power corresponding to the margin information and performs forward transmission at the forward data rate at the decreased transmission power level.

A common packet channel assignment method in a CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) communication system is disclosed. The method comprises transmitting an access preamble signal having channel information which is used to access a base station; receiving an access preamble acquisition indicator signal received from the base station in response to the access preamble signal; transmitting a collision detection preamble for detecting a collision in response to the received access preamble acquisition indicator signal; receiving a first signal indicating acquisition of the collision detection preamble and a second signal indicating channel assignment, that the base station has transmitted in response to the collision acquisition signal; and upon receipt of the first signal, allocating a common packet channel according to information designated by the second signal.
