    Abstract: PURPOSE: Provided is a method for fermenting paper slurry using a helical ribbon agitator to increase the productivity of alcohol. CONSTITUTION: The method for fermenting paper slurry is characterized by the following steps of: i) obtaining dissociated paper which contains 57% cellulose by adding used paper and 2L of distilled water into a disintegrator and centrifuging the paper at 1000rpm for 15 minutes; ii) adding the dissociated paper, medium containing 2% of corn steep liquor, 30FPU/g of cellulase, and 13.3 IU/g of beta-glucosidase to citrate buffer of pH 4.8 during an early stage of fermentation intermittently; and iii) agitating the mixture by a helical ribbon agitator.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for pretreating high efficiency biomass using ammonia water capable of separating hemicellulose and lignin for the manufacture of ethanol through enzyme hydrolysis from cellulose(wood) based biomass are provided. Thereby, processing cost is reduced because the washing process of pretreated biomass is unnecessary and ammonia is inexpensive and reused. CONSTITUTION: In a pretreatment method of biomass for the manufacture of ethanol for fuel from cellulose(wood) based biomass, this pretreatment method comprises the steps of introducing cellulose based biomass into an elution reactor(2); supplying ammonia water to the elution reactor in such a manner that a retention time of ammonia water in the inner part of the elution reactor is about 10 to 30min; separating ammonia and lignin by vaporizing ammonia water in an ammonia reheater/lignin separator(8); and collecting ammonia in a collector(9), recycling ammonia, removing impurities and hydrolyzing.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A process and apparatus for preparing fibrous solid materials and xylane extracts by crushing cellulosic biomass into the shape of chips and extracting with weak acid are provided, thereby producing the titled materials at low cost in high yield. CONSTITUTION: This process comprises the steps of preheating an extractor(2) at 170 to 200deg.C using heated high-pressure vapor of about 25kg/cm3 in a vapor generator(3); introducing cellulosic biomass having a size of 50mm into the extractor through a hopper(1); supplying weak acid to the extractor at a temperature of 150 to 200deg.C, at a flow rate of 1 to 5cm/min and in a concentration of 0.0 to 0.2 w/v; extracting fibrous solid materials and storing in a tank(11); pressing at a specified pressure(less than 25kg/cm¬2); and performing the steam explosion of the solid materials.
