PURPOSE: Device and method transmitting supplementary data using spread spectrum are provided to add data to a broadcasting signal for distress broadcasting and additional service without additional channel allocation using spread spectrum. CONSTITUTION: A service data generation unit (110) generates each transmission header of service packets and generates service data including the transmission header and service packet. A transmission data generation unit (120) performs channel coding and spread spectrum of the service data. The transmission data generation unit generates transmission data by inserting a predetermined synchronization code into the spread spectrum data. A modulation unit (131) modulates the transmission data. A signal synthesis unit (133) synthesizes the modulated transmission data to a broadcasting signal. PURPOSE: A broadcasting apparatus of disaster information and a method thereof are provided to broadcast a disaster condition in a specific region and to increase the efficiency of a system. CONSTITUTION: A disaster information processing unit(110) transfers changed information to an information process controlling unit. Each modulator performs COFDM(Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) modulation of a multiplexing signal. Each of the modulators outputs the COFDM signal. An RF(Radio Frequency) transmitting unit(150) transmits the signal selected by a signal switching unit.

PURPOSE: A transmission method of digital multi-media broadcast is provided to receive an emergency signal by transmitting additional data. CONSTITUTION: A transmission apparatus respectively creates an emergency information signal and an emergency information existence signal(S510). The transmission apparatus creates a diffusion code of the emergency information existence signal and the diffusion signal of the emergency information signal by using the diffusion code(S520). A PN code is used as the diffusion code. The transmission apparatus transmits an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) signal, the diffusion code of the emergency information existence signal and the diffusion signal of the emergency information signal to a reception apparatus(S530).

PURPOSE: A method and method for transceiving additional data at a high speed by using a variable code set mapping are provided to increase data transmission rate according to the number of a diffusion code of a variable code set. The mapping unit selects a preset spreading code corresponding to the supplementary data included in the preset size. First and second disaster message stream units multiplex audio/video/data signals(S1350). A relay apparatus and a relay method thereof are provided to increase the power of a signal re-transmitted through a transmission antenna by removing a feedback signal from a signal received through a receiving antenna. A receiver(100) frequency-down-converts an RF receiving signal to an IF(Intermediate Frequency) signal. An echo remover(200) removes a feedback signal from an IF receiving signal. A demodulator(300) demodulates a T-DMB frame in the IF signal where the feedback signal is removed, and then extracts/outputs a phase reference symbol to an equalizer. The equalizer updates the coefficient of a filter to compensate for the distortion of the IF signal.

A method and an apparatus for a hierarchical modulation using a pilot, and a method and an apparatus for receiving a hierarchically modulated signal are provided to improve a reception property by additionally transmitting a pilot signal with a modulated data signal. A hierarchical modulation apparatus includes a first encoder(10), a second encoder(11), a pilot insertion portion(12), and a hierarchical modulator(13). The first encoder encodes a first hierarchical signal stream. The second encoder encodes a second hierarchical signal stream. The pilot insertion portion inserts a pilot signal to the signal stream, which is encoded in the second encoder. The hierarchical modulator encodes the signals which are outputted from the first encoder and the pilot insertion portion, and combines the encoded results with each other.
