PURPOSE: An image encoding/decoding apparatus and method are provided to eliminate the use of a memory area necessary to deblocking filtering. CONSTITUTION: If bit stream for the compression of video data is outputted on the basis of the block video information of the video data and the differential signal of the video information, a reverse processing unit(107~109) performs the reverse transformation and reverse quantization of the video information and the addition of the differential signal. A deblocking filler(110) performs the deblocking of the added video information. A reference video buffer(111) stores the video information deblocked by the deblocking filler. One or more prediction units(101,112) performs the video prediction of the video information using the deblocked video information stored in the reference video buffer.

PURPOSE: An encoding apparatus and method capable of multi-dimensional conversion and quantization and a decoding apparatus and method are provided to apply integer-type quantization to a difference image which is converted twice. CONSTITUTION: A first differentiator(140) removes a prediction block created by inter prediction and creates a difference image. A converting unit(151) performs the multi-dimensional conversion of the difference image. A quantization unit(153) applies integer-type quantization to the multi-dimensionally converted difference image. An entropy coding unit(157) encodes and compresses the coefficient values of the re-aligned difference image.

PURPOSE: A quality measuring system of several class images and system thereof are provided to evaluate the image quality of multiple layers based on a quality measuring result of each layer. CONSTITUTION: A bitstream extraction unit(110) separates an inputted multi-level image into a base layer bitstream and an enhanced layer bitstream. A base layer quality measuring unit(120) generates image quality measuring result information of a base layer image. An enhanced layer quality measuring unit(130) generates image quality measuring result information. An integrated quality evaluation unit(140) evaluates the effective quality of the several class images.

PURPOSE: A video encoding/decoding device using an adaptive conversion encoding/decoding region based on characteristic of a differential signal and a method thereof are provided not to include a boundary region signal inside a converting and encoding block, thereby increasing energy compaction of a signal after converting and encoding. CONSTITUTION: A signal divider(131) divides a differential signal of an image block into a non boundary area signal and a boundary area signal. A converting and encoding unit(133) performs a DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) of the non boundary area signal. A quantization unit(135) quantizes the DCT-converted non-boundary area signal in a frequency domain. A spatial area quantization unit(137) quantizes the boundary area signal in a space area.

Provided is an apparatus and method for encoding and decoding using alternative transform units according to the correlation of residual signals. The video encoding apparatus includes a first transforming unit for performing discrete cosine transform (DCT), first quantization, first inverse quantization, and inverse DCT on a block basis onto residual coefficients generated after intra frame prediction or inter frame prediction; a second transforming unit for performing discrete sine transform (DST), second quantization, second inverse quantization, and inverse DST on a block basis onto the residual coefficients; a selecting unit for selecting one having a high compression rate between the first and second transforming units for each block through performing rate-distortion optimization; and a flag marking unit for recording information about the selected transforming unit at a flag bit provided on a macroblock basis.

An image encoder and a method thereof using a coordinate conversion of differential image for decoding the image are provided to encode input image efficiently by performing a DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) by using a basis vector. An input image divider(510) divides an input image into a plurality of image blocks including a conversion object block. A pixel coordinates converter(550) converts the coordinate of a first pixel included in the conversion object block into the coordinates of the second pixel within the conversion object block. A coding unit encodes the conversion object block transformed of coordinate. The pixel coordinate conversion unit converts the coordinates of the first pixel in consideration of the direction of the base vector of the discrete cosine transform.

The present invention discloses an encoding apparatus using a Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) scanning, which includes a mode selection means for selecting an optimal mode for intra prediction; an intra prediction means for performing intra prediction onto video inputted based on the mode selected in the mode selection means; a DCT and quantization means for performing DCT and quantization onto residual coefficients of a block outputted from the intra prediction means; and an entropy encoding means for performing entropy encoding onto DCT coefficients acquired from the DCT and quantization by using a scanning mode decided based on pixel similarity of the residual coefficients.

A lossless coding/decoding apparatus and method of audio signal are provided to improve the performance of an audio encoder by compressing audio signal into a bit string having a less bit number at the same coding distortion. A lossless encoding apparatus comprises a second encoder module(210) including a first encoder(230) directly encoding a first symbol and a plurality of second encoders(220) converting the first symbol into a second symbol and encoding the second symbol; a first selector(250) comparing the performance of the second encoders and the first encoder and outputting an encoding mode according to the comparison result; and a second selector(260) encoding the first symbol corresponding to the encoding mode and outputting the final bit string.

Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for encoding/decoding a video by using separation of amplitude and sign of a differential signal are provided to take an absolute value for a differential signal generated after motion prediction, thereby improving the correlation of pixels within a block where DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) will be performed and accordingly increasing compression efficiency. A video prediction unit generates a prediction video with respect to an original video as an object for current encoding. A differential signal generating unit generates a differential signal between the original video and the prediction video. An amplitude/sign separating unit generates a sign bit(sign bit for compensation) for performing restoring of the differential signal and amplitude from the differential signal. An encoding unit performs transform encoding, quantization and entropy encoding with respect to the differential signal amplitude, and performs entropy encoding of the sign bit for compensation. A decoding unit performs inverse-transform of the differential signal amplitude, transform-encoded and quantized in the encoding unit, so as to perform restore into the original differential signal. By performing sign compensation by using the sign bit for compensation and performing motion compensation for the sign-compensated differential signal, the decoding unit restores the original video and stores the restored original video as a new reference video.
