    Abstract: PURPOSE: A delay time control method for regulating the air amount of an automatic transmission is provided to prevent shift shock, and to stabilize engine RPM(Revolution Per Minute) by extending shift delay time with counting remaining time at P or N-range and R or D-range after starting. CONSTITUTION: Coolant temperature of an engine is detected according to information from a water temperature sensor by an ECU(Electronic Control Unit) in starting, and the target RPM and the target air amount are set based on coolant temperature. Stabilizing time of RPM fluctuation is checked according to each temperature. Shift delay time is compensated by counting remaining time at R or D and P or N-range after starting. The delay time for regulating the air amount is adjusted during stabilizing RPM fluctuation according to each temperature in shifting P into D or N into R-range.

The torque converter transfers rotational force of the engine into the transmission. Thereby, the system for controlling slip connection of the damper clutch prevents change of the engine revolution per minute to reduce waste of a fuel.

In a fourth step, when no low speed running is determined, dashpot of the ISA is suddenly increased. When the vehicle is in a low speed running, the operational state of the vehicle is stabilized even a sudden operation of the acceleration pedal.
