Abstract:
Disclosed is a dispenser (10) for a solid chemical (13) and a method of dispensing the chemical (13). Water enters via an inlet line (22) and is sprayed from a spray nozzle (21), so that the solid chemical (13) is dispensed in the form of an aqueous chemical solution via outlet line (17). The solution's concentration is adjustable by varying the distance between the spray nozzle (21) and the exposed dissolving surface of the chemical (13). The spray nozzle's position is adjusted by means of a screw jack (68), a push-pull cable (93), a solenoid (100), or a lever (117).
Abstract:
A multiple product dispensing system (100) includes a plurality of use solution dispensers (10a, 10b, 10c) and a controller (110) for selecting one of the dispensers (10a, 10b, 10c) according to a preset regimen, e.g., selecting different dispensers on different days of the week. Each dispenser (10a, 10b, 10c) dispenses a controlled concentration of use solution using a diluent delivery apparatus (13) that delivers a diluent to form a liquid concentrate from a solid chemical composition (22), and to form make-up diluent for diluting the liquid concentrate and forming a use solution of controlled concentration. A foam reducer (24) reduces the kinetic energy of the make-up diluent prior to mixing with the liquid concentrate to reduce foaming. An unskilled operator may operate the dispensing system (100) to dispense a use solution of carefully controlled concentration, and the controller (110) will automatically select the proper dispenser according to the preset regimen, without any additional input on the part of the operator. Therefore, the likelihood of operator error occurring is greatly reduced by the automatic selection of the proper dispenser (10a, 10b, 10c) and the control over use solution concentration.
Abstract:
Compositions of use as soil removing agents in the food processing industry are disclosed. Food soiled surfaces in food manufacturing and preparation areas can be cleaned. The compositions are manufactured in the form of a concentrate which is diluted with water and used. The cleaning materials are made in a two part system which are diluted with a diluent source and mixed prior to use. The products contain high quality cleaning compositions and use a variety of active ingredients. The preferred materials, in a two part system contain detergent compositions, enzymes that degrade food compositions, surfactants, low alkaline builders, water conditioning (softening) agents, and optionally a variety of formulary adjuvants depending on product form.
Abstract:
Improved separation of emulsified hydrophobic organic soils can be obtained from aqueous effluents using an amphoteric carboxylate surfactant material in combination with cationic destabilizer or flocculent materials. Such a treatment in combination with an acidic pH adjustment causes the rapid separation of hydrophobic organic soils from the aqueous stream. The treated aqueous stream is environmentally compatible. Improved laundry detergents comprising an organic amphoteric carboxylate surfactant and selected nonionic surfactants provide both cleaning for fiber and fabric containing items soiled with substantial quantities of hydrophobic soil. The pH of an effluent generated in such cleaning processes can be adjusted to an acid pH and treated with a cationic material causing a break that permits rapid and substantially complete separation of the hydrophobic organic soils from the effluent. Residual concentrations of organic soil in effluent water can be less than 250 ppm and can be as low as 100 ppm.
Abstract:
This invention is a microbicidal and tuberculocidal composition comprising a major portion of carrier and an effective sanitizing amount of octanoic acid, or octanoic acid derivatives, and a sulfur containing compound. Optionally, the invention may also comprise any variety of formulatory ingredient options or application adjuvants. The invention comprises concentrate compositions and methods of sanitizing and disinfecting using the antimicrobial composition of the invention.
Abstract:
A holding device (10) for a solid urinal or toilet bowl treatment bodies (18) including a detergent, a deodorant or a sanitizing agent, the device being attachable to the inside vertical wall (12) of a lavatory appliance (14) in a position below influent water passages of the appliance, so that a turbulent flow of flush water across the body is created. The holding device includes a fastening plate, a perforated container mounted on the fastening plate for retaining the solid composition. A fastener is provided for fastening the device to the lavatory appliance, so that the device is exposed to a direct flow of flush water from the influent passages.
Abstract:
A product dilution system constructed according to the present invention includes an aspirator (8) wherein a product delivery means (6) allows a product concentrate to flow into the aspirator, and is sized in combination with the size of an outlet orifice (9) of the aspirator to achieve a predetermined dilution ratio. A product package includes an inner flexible receptacle (2) which collapses during product dilution to allow complete evacuation of the product concentrate from the product package.
Abstract:
A low viscosity aqueous cleaning composition provides increasing viscosity upon dilution which provides a high viscosity diluted cleaning composition having solvents compatible with the rod micelle thickener and the cleaning system that clings for an extended period of time in a thickened form containing cleaning system ingredients that can penetrate and remove hard baked-on soils on vertical surfaces in cleaning units. The composition contains active cleaning ingredients (acid, alkaline and enzyme) that, in combination with thickening systems, provide the useful properties. The thickened materials can be applied on cold or hot surfaces and can successfully penetrate, soften and remove baked-on food soil on a variety of surfaces including oven walls, doors and grills, baking dishes, utensils, etc. The material is applied in the form of a thick diluted liquid spray or hot foam directly to the hardened soil, is permitted to penetrate the soil, resulting softened soils are then easily removed by hot or cold water rinse or by mechanical action such as scrubbing, scraping or wiping.
Abstract:
Nonionic surfactants comprising a mixture of fatty acid esters of sorbitol and sorbitol anhydrides comprising predominantly the mono, di-or tri ester condensed with approximately 15 or more moles of an alkylene oxide in combination with an effective defoamer and a water soluble diluent form suprisingly useful and effective low foaming rinse agent composition or concentrate. The rinse agent can achieve adequate sheeting in common aqueous rinses at typical rinse temperatures at a concentration of the nonionic sorbitan ester in water at concentrations about 500 parts of the fully formulated rinse agent per million parts of water. The rinse agents can be used in a rinse cycle in common warewashing machines after washing with commonly available warewashing compositions. The rinse agents can take the form of thickened pourable or semi-pourable aqueous liquids or cast solid materials packaged within a disposable wrapper, capsule or other package. The preferred form of the rinse agent is a pourable or pumpable aqueous concentrate. The uniqueness of the invention relates to the fact that all components are not expected to be active as sheeting agents and are approuved as food additives thereby eliminating any health concerns associated with residual deposits of the composition on cleaned ware.
Abstract:
A peroxyacid antimicrobial concentrate and use composition is provided comprising a C5 peroxyacid in combination with a C1-C4 peroxyacid, a C6-C18 peroxyacid, or mixtures thereof. The combination of these peracids produces a synergistic effect, providing a much more potent biocide than can be obtained by using these components separately. Other components can be added to the composition such as hydrotrope coupling agents, stabilizers, etc. An effective antimicrobial use solution is formed at low concentrations when the concentrate composition is diluted with water. Sanitizing of substantially fixed, "in-place" processing lines in dairies, breweries, and other food processing operations is one utility of the composition.
