    Abstract: A PHYSICAL AUTOMATIC REQUEST REPEAT SYSTEM COMPRISES A TRANSMITTER AND A RECEIVER. A PHYSICAL LAYER TRANSMITTER, AT THE TRANSMITTER, RECEIVES DATA AND FORMATS THE RECEIVED DATA INTO PACKETS HAVING A PARTICULAR ENCODING/DATA MODULATION. THE PHYSICAL LAYER TRANSMITTER CONTAINS N CHANNELS WHICH TRANSMIT THE PACKETS AND RETRANSMITS PACKETS IN RESPONSE TO NOT RECEIVING A CORRESPONDING ACKNOWLEDGMENT FOR A GIVEN PACKET. AN ADAPTIVE MODULATION AND CODING CONTROLLER IN THE TRANSMITTER COLLECTS RETRANSMISSION STATISTICS AND ADJUSTS THE PARTICULAR ENCODING/DATA MODULATIONS USING THE COLLECTED STATISTICS. THE RECEIVER HAS A PHYSICAL LAYER N-CHANNEL RECEIVER FOR RECEIVING THE PACKETS. THE RECEIVER CONTAINS AN N-CHANNEL HYBRID ARQ COMBINER/DECODER WHICH COMBINES PACKET TRANSMISSIONS, DECODES PACKETS AND DETECTS PACKET ERRORS. THE RECEIVER CONTAINS AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT TRANSMITTER WHICH TRANSMITS AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT FOR EACH PACKET, IF THAT PACKET HAS AN ACCEPTABLE ERROR RATE. THE RECEIVER CONTAINS AN IN-SEQUENCE DELIVERY ELEMENT WHICH DELIVERS ACCEPTABLE PACKETS TO HIGHER LAYERS.

    Abstract: A method and system for conserving power of battery-powered mesh points (MPs) in a mesh network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a centralized controller is provided in the mesh network. Each of the MPs signal information associated with conserving MP battery power and provide indications of battery power levels associated with the respective MPs to the centralized controller. The centralized controller optimizes the configuration of the mesh network based on the signaling information for conserving MP battery power and the battery power level indications. In an alternate embodiment, each of the MPs individually monitor traffic flowing through the respective MP and a level of battery power associated with the respective MP. Each of the MPs determine whether to activate a power saving function associated with the respective MP and signal information associated with conserving MP battery power to neighboring MPs in the mesh network.

    Abstract: La presente divulga un método y sistema para conservar la energía de puntos mallados (MPs) alimentados por batería en una red mallada. En una realizacion, se provee un controlador centralizado en la red mallada. Cada uno de los MPs senaliza informacion asociada a la conservacion de la energía de la batería de los MPs y brinda al controlador centralizado indicaciones sobre los niveles de energía de la batería asociados a los MPs respectivos. El controlador centralizado optimiza la configuracion de la red mallada en base a la informacion de senalizacion para conservar la energía de la batería de los MPs y las indicaciones sobre el nivel de energía de la batería. En una realizacion alternativa, cada uno de los MPs monitorea individualmente el tráfico que fluye a través del MP respectivo y un nivel de energía de la batería asociado al MP respectivo. Cada uno de los MPs determina si activa una funcion de ahorro de energía asociada al MP respectivo y senaliza informacion asociada a la conservacion de la energía de la batería de los MP a MPs vecinos en la red mallada.

    Abstract: A base station comprising circuitry configured to use a first hybrid automatic repeat request (ARQ) to provide data blocks for transmission by a second hybrid ARQ; and wherein the circuitry is further configured to determine channel quality of subcarriers in an orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) frequency set; wherein the circuitry is further configured to transmit the provided data blocks by the second hybrid ARQ; wherein each second hybrid ARQ transmission comprises turbo coded data of at least one of the data blocks and an appended error check sequence (ECS); wherein each second hybrid ARQ transmission is an OFDM signal; wherein the second hybrid ARQ is configured to retransmit using adaptive modulation and coding; wherein the second hybrid ARQ transmissions are sent over subcarriers of the OFDM frequency set and the transmission subcarriers are selected in response to the channel quality of the OFDM frequency set; and wherein the selected subcarriers for at least one second hybrid ARQ transmission are not contiguous subcarriers.
