    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a developing sheet for pressure sensitive copying paper making use of a developer having a sufficient resistance to water or plasticizer, by containing a metallized substance of a co-condensation resin consisting of salicylic acid, p-substituted phenol, and alpha,alpha'-dialkoxy-p-xylene. CONSTITUTION:A developing sheet for pressure sensitive copying paper containing a metallized substance of a co-condensation resin consisting of salicyl ic acid, p-substituted phenol, and alpha,alpha'-dialkoxy-p-xylene as a developer. The p-substituted phenol is used 0.1-50 in mole ratio to 1mol of salicylic acid. The alpha,alpha'-dialkoxy-p-xylene is used 0.1-1.0 in mole ratio to 1mol of the two mixed ingredients of the salicylic acid and the p-substituted phenol. The develop ing sheet is free from the yellowing caused by a light and a gas such as nitrogen oxide in air, and develops an image stable to light, plasticizer, etc., without reduction in coloring density and has a good resistance to water.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a polar aprotic solvent efficiently in high selectivity and yield at a low cost, by reacting specific amounts of N-dimethylethylenediamine with urea in a polar solvent at temperature in two stages. CONSTITUTION:N,N-Dimethyletylenediamine and urea in a molar amount of about twice based on the N,N-dimethylethylenediamine are charged into a polar solvent, e.g. 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolinone (abbreviated to DMI) having preferably >=180 deg.C boiling point and reacted at =180 deg.C to give almost equimolar amounts of the N,N-dimethylethylenediamine and the urea to be used in the overall reaction while adding the N,N-dimethylethylenediamine to suppress the formationof cyanuric acid as a by-product and carry out the reaction in the latter stage. Thus, the aimed DMI is obtained. The overall reaction can be carried out under ordinary pressure.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate for dyes, agricultural chemicals, etc., in high quality and yield, by reacting a diphenylamine with an excess amount of phenol and its corresponding catalytic amount of a cyclohexanone in the presence of a hydrogen transfer catalyst under heating. CONSTITUTION:Diphenylamine or a nuclear substitution product thereof is reacted with an excess amount of phenol, e.g. methylphenol or ethylphenol, or a nuclear substitution product thereof and its corresponding catalytic amount of cyclohexanone or a ring substitution product thereof in the presence of a hydrogen transfer catalyst, e.g. preferably palladium catalyst supported on a carrier such as palladium-carbon or palladium alumina, under heating to give the aimed triphenylamine or a nuclear substitution product thereof. The molar amount of the cyclohexanone to be used is about >=0.03, preferably 0.05-0.40 of the catalytic amount based on the diphenylamine. Preferably, the reaction solution is repeatedly and continuously circulated for use without separating the cyclohexanone after completing the reaction.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent composition containing each specific secondary amide-type N-acyltaurine salt and branched chain fatty acid ester, having a low stimulation, good in foam quality and foam sustaining property, excellent in foaming and feeling in use, and suitable for cleaning the skin, etc. SOLUTION: This detergent composition contains (A) a secondary amide-type N-acyltaurine salt of the formula (RCO is a 10-16C linear chain acyl; M is Na, K or an alkanolammonium) with (B) a branched fatty acid ester selected from (i) an 8-36C branched fatty acid ester of a 40-400mol adduct of ethylene oxide with a polyhydric alcohol, (ii) an 8-36C branched fatty acid ester of a polyethylene glycol having 2000-20000 average molecular weight, and (iii) a 40-400mol adduct of ethylene oxide with an 8-36C branched fatty acid ester of a polyhydric alcohol, and more preferably (C) a higher fatty acid salt such as sodium lauric acid. Further, the blending ratio of the components A to B is preferably as the components A/B=(50/1)-(5/1) in weight ratio.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a detergent compsn. having excellent foaming properties, detergency and antiphlogistic effect and persistence thereof, little irritating properties, and a good feel in use by using a specific N-acyltaurine salt and an antiphlogistic. CONSTITUTION: This detergent compsn. comprises (A) a sec. amide type N- acyltaurine salt of the formula: RCONHCH2 CH2 SO3 M (wherein RCO is 10-16C linear acyl; and M is Na, K or alkanolammonium), and (B) an antiphlogistic (e.g. allantoin). The amt. of the component (A) blended in the detergent compsn. is pref. 5 to 50wt.% based on the compsn. in the case of a liq. detergent, 15 to 70wt.% based on the compsn. in the case of a paste detergent, and 40 to 95wt.% based on the compsn. in the case of a solid detergent. On the other hand, the amt. of the component (B) blended is pref. 0.01 to 5wt.%, esp. pref. 0.05 to 2wt.%. If necessary, the compsn. may further comprise (C) a higher fatty acid salt (e.g. triethanolamine laurate). The amt. of the component (C) blended is pref. such that C/(A+B)=1/20 to 1/2 (in terms of wt. ratio).

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a solid cleaning agent composition containing an N- acyltaurine compound, a higher fatty acid and a higher alcohol, excellent in foaming property, capable of giving a preferable touch feeling in use or after use, hardly soluble and collapsable, having low irritation and especially suitable for cleansing skin. CONSTITUTION: This composition contains (A) 40 to 99wt.% (preferably 50 to 95wt.%) of an N-acyltaurine compound (preferable example; N-lauroyl taurine sodium) of the formula, RCONHCH2 CH2 SO3 M (RCO is a C10-16 straight-chain acyl; M is Na or K), and (B) (i) 1 to 60wt.% (preferably 5 to 50wt.%) of a higher fatty acid consisting of lauric acid or a decomposition product of tallow, coconut oil, etc., and/or (ii) a higher alcohol such as myristyl alcohol or eicosano alcohol.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain in a single step and in high selectivity the subject compound useful as an intermediate for synthesizing dyes, agrochemicals or rubbers, by reaction between a phenol and an aniline in the presence of a hydrogen transfer catalyst. CONSTITUTION: In the presence of (A) a hydrogen transfer catalyst (e.g. Raney nickel, palladium catalyst) and (B) a catalytic amount of the cyclohexanone corresponding to the phenol, as a reactant, (C) a phenol as hydrogen acceptor is reacted with (D) an aniline, while forming the corresponding cyclohexanone in the system, to obtain the objective compound. A preferable version of the process is as follows: in the presence of the hydrogen transfer catalyst, part of the phenol is converted into the corresponding cyclohexanone under pressure with hydrogen, and the rest as hydrogen acceptor is reacted with the aniline under being charged dropwise while forming the corresponding cyclohexanone in the system.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound having excellent performance as a color developer of pressure-sensitive copying paper by reacting a salicylic acid derivative simultaneously with a benzyl halide derivative and a styrene derivative in the presence of an acid and reacting the obtained product with a polyvalent metal compound. CONSTITUTION:A salicylic acid derivative of formula (1) (wherein R1 is H, an alkyl, aralkyl or aryl; and X1 and X2 are each H, an alkyl, alkoxyl, aralkyl, aryl or halogen) (e.g. salicylic acid) is reacted simultaneously with a benzyl halide derivative of formula (2) (wherein R2 and R3 are each H or an alkyl; X3 is a halogen; and X4 and X5 are each H, an alkyl, alkoxyl, aralkyl, aryl or a halogen) (e.g. benzyl chloride) and a styrene derivative of formula (3) (wherein R4 to R6 are each H or an alkyl; and X6 and X7 are each H, an alkyl, alkoxyl, aralkyl, aryl or a halogen) (e.g. styrene) in the presence of an acid (e.g. sulfuric acid), and the obtained product is reacted with a polyvalent metal compound (e.g. zinc sulfate).
