Abstract:
In one aspect, an apparatus for wirelessly coupling with other devices is provided. The apparatus includes a metallic cover having a removed portion. The apparatus comprises a first coil substantially wound around the removed portion of the metallic cover and configured to communicate with at least one other device via a communications protocol. The metallic cover comprises a second coil substantially wound around the removed portion of the metallic cover and configured to wirelessly and inductively receive charging power sufficient to charge or power the apparatus from at least one wireless charging power transmitter.
Abstract:
Exemplary embodiments are directed to an apparatus for controlling magnetic field distribution including a wireless transmit antenna configured to generate a magnetic field for wirelessly transferring power to a charge-receiving device with the wireless transmit antenna, a parasitic antenna located near the wireless transmit antenna, and a switch configured to selectively enable the parasitic antenna to modify the magnetic field in response to an antenna parameter that indicates the presence of the charge-receiving device relative to the parasitic antenna.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for converting voltages between different voltage levels in a receiver are disclosed. In an aspect, a wireless power receiver apparatus for charging a chargeable device is provided. The apparatus includes a plurality of receive antennas disposed on a cover of the chargeable device, wherein at least one of the plurality of receive antennas is configured to wirelessly receive power according to a wireless charging protocol different from at least one other of the plurality of receive antennas. The apparatus includes a switching circuit disposed on the cover and configured to receive the wireless power from at least one of the plurality of receive antennas and selectively provide a respective voltage from a corresponding one of the plurality of receive antennas across an output configured to be connected to an input of the chargeable device.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for lost power detection are described. In one implementation, an apparatus for wirelessly transferring power includes an antenna configured to provide wireless power to a chargeable device sufficient to charge or power the chargeable device positioned within a charging region of the antenna. The apparatus further includes a receiver configured to receive from the chargeable device a measurement of a first amount of energy received by the chargeable device over a first period of time. The apparatus further includes a processor configured to measure a second amount of energy provided by the antenna over a second period of time, compare the first amount of energy to the second amount of energy, and determine whether another object is absorbing power provided via the antenna based at least in part on comparing the first amount and the second amount of energy.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for wireless power transfer. In one aspect, an apparatus transfers energy wirelessly to at least one receive antenna of at least one receiver. The apparatus comprises a first antenna configured to generate a first wireless field when the at least one receiver is in an energy transfer region of the first transmit antenna. The apparatus further comprises a second antenna configured to generate a second wireless field when the at least one receiver is in an energy transfer region of the second transmit antenna. The apparatus further comprises a controller configured to activate at least one of the first antenna or the second antenna based on whether the at least one receiver is in an energy transfer region of one or both of the first and second wireless fields.
Abstract:
Systems, methods and apparatus are disclosed for wireless power transfer using multiple receive coils. In one aspect a wireless power receiver is provided that is configured to receive wireless power from a wireless power transmit coil. The wireless power receiver includes a first receive coil having a first mutual coupling with the transmit coil. The wireless power receiver further includes a second receive coil having a second mutual coupling with the transmit coil. The wireless power receiver further includes a load coupled to at least one of the first receive coil and the second receive coil for receiving the wireless power.
