Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing spherical carbon, easily and in a large quantity with a simple installation without accompanying large amounts of electric power and energy consuming. SOLUTION: A carrier gas G is bubbled in toluene 13 charged in a container 8 as a raw material, and the bubbled gas saturated with the toluene is discharged into an introduction pipe 12. The toluene mixture gas 13A is guided into an oven core pipe 3 with a carrier gas G supplied from the other introduction pipe 11b. When the toluene-mixed gas 13A passes through an oven 2, the toluene is pyrolyzed with a heater 5 in the oven 2, and the produced soot 15 containing the objective spherical carbon substances is adhered to the oven core pipe 3 and quartz wools 4a, 4b. The adhered soot is recovered to obtain the objective carbon substances.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a fullerene polymer high in electrical conductivity, excellent in transparency, and high in mechanical strength while retaining the physical properties inherent in fullerene, by imparting the plural molecules of fullerene with polymerization energy in its vapor and/or solid state. CONSTITUTION: This fullerene polymer is obtained by imparting plural molecules of fullerene of the identical kind with the same number of carbon atoms expressed by the formula Cn ((n) is an integer capable of geometrically forming a spherical compound) with polymerization energy in the form of plasma, light, electron beams, X-rays or heat in a vapor and/or solid state. This polymer has such a structure that the constituent carbon atoms of the fullerene are partly deleted and plural molecules are mutually directly linked in high symmetry via the carbon atoms adjacent to the deleted sites. This polymer, which retains the physical properties inherent in fullerene and presents the characteristics as its polymer, is hopeful of uses making the best use of these characteristics as thin films or materials containing the polymer.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a metal magnetic powder with limited aging by performing a surface treatment of an Fe magnetic powder being reduced by a morpholine derivative to achieve a value high remarkably of saturated magnetization and excellent resistance to acid. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic powder comprises a Fe part 1, a metal oxide part 2 and an organic rust preventive agent layer 3 and an iron oxide part with a smaller value of saturated magnetization is caused to be reduced to the Fe part 1 with a larger saturated magnetization to produce a metal magnetic powder with higher saturated magnetization per unit weight. An organic antirust agent used in a surface treatment employs a morpholine derivative. After the iron oxide part is removed by hydrogen reduction beforehand, the surface treatment is carried out using the organic rust preventive agent in a reducing atmosphere or with oxygen and water being cut off. In a magnetic recording medium made up of a magnetic layer mainly composed of the magnetic powder and a binder formed on a non-magnetic support, the morpholine derivative is contained in the magnetic layer to improve durability and resistance to rust as medium thereof thereby enabling the suppression of aging.

CONSTITUTION:An amine salt compd. of long-chain carboxylic acid is incorporated into a magnetic layer provided on a nonmagnetic base or a top coat layer consisting of the amine salt compd. of the long-chain carboxylic acid is formed on the magnetic layer. The carbon atoms of the hydrocarbon chains in the carboxylic acid of the amine salt compd. of the long-chain carboxylic acid are preferably >=10 pieces. On the other hand, the chain lengths of the hydrocarbon chains bonded to each nitrogen ahoms in amine are not limited. However, at least one of these hydrocarbon chains are preferably specified to >=10C in order to assure the good lubricity or dispersibility. Magnetic powder subjected to a rust preventive treatment is used as the magnetic powder to constitute the magnetic layer.
