    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the high molecular alignment layer of satisfactory liquid crystal alignment property by enabling uniform treatment even in the case of oblique light radiation by irradiating an object to be irradiated with light into narrow pattern in the direction crossing a moving direction while moving the body to be irradiated relatively obliquely to the radiation direction of this light. SOLUTION: Emitted light 1A from a light source (mercury lamp) 1 is made into parallel light 1B by a collimator lens 2 or the like, passed through a polarizer 3 and converted into linearly polarized light 1C. Then, the polarized light 1C passed through the polarizer 3 is passed through a linear mask 4 having a slit-shaped aperture 10 in the breadthwise direction of an alignment layer 5 (namely in the direction orthogonal to its moving direction A) and only one part of polarized light 1C is passed. By using such a linear mask 4, an area B to be irradiated on a substrate 6 forming the oriented film 5 of polyimide or the like is limited into narrow pattern. The substrate 6 (high molecular alignment layer 5) to be irradiated with the polarized light 1C is moved upward obliquely on the drawing at fixed speed by a substrate moving device 7.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To attain superior lubricity by a lubricant layer independently of service environment, to maintain its lubricating effect over a long period of time and to ensure satisfactory traveling performance, wear resistance and durability by forming a mixed lubricant layer having a prescribed structure on a protective layer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic metallic thin film 2 of Co-Ni and a carbon protective layer 3 are successively formed on a PET film as a non-magnetic substrate 1 and a mixed lubricant consisting of partially fluorinated alkylcarboxylic acid represented by formula I and a titanate coupling agent represented by formula II is stuck as a lubricant layer 4 on the protective layer 3 to obtain the objective magnetic recording medium. The titanate coupling agent has superior lubricating action but this action is deteriorated under severe environment at high temp. and high humidity or low temp. and low humidity. The deterioration of the lubricating action of the coupling agent and the increase of the coefft. of friction are inhibited by mixing the coupling agent with the partially fluorinated alkylcarboxylic acid and satisfactory traveling performance, wear resistance and durability are ensured.

The functional groups of the resin 3 and the isocyanate groups introduced into the surfaces of the resin 2 are allowed to react to form the combined parts 1. Since this combination is very strong and fast, the resin 3 is stably adsorbed into the colorant particles 2, and the charge donor 4 is surrounded in a coordinated site formed by the oxyethylene unit chain 3a.

The components mainly of the dispersion medium occupying the greater part of the wet developer are effectively regenerated in this way.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To lessen the unequal development and to allow efficient development with a smaller amt. of the developer to be used by specifying the concn. of a coloring agent in a developing stage to 2 to 10wt.%. CONSTITUTION:The prepd. developer 5 is put between a transparent electrode 2 and a metallic plate 3 and the entire part of the device is heated to maintain the developer 5 in a liquefied state and thereafter, a voltage is impressed between the transparent electrode 2 and the metallic plate 3 to develop the positive charged coloring agent on the transparent electrode 2. The concn. of the coloring agent 5 in the developing stage is specified to 2 to 10wt.% at this time. Since the concn. of the coloring agent is sufficiently high, the sufficient development concn. is obtd. only in the thin developer layer 5 in the extreme neighborhood of the electrostatic latent images formed on a photosensitive body and since the shorter migration resistance of the coloring agent particles is necessitated, the generation of convection in the developer is obviated. The development of good uniformity without having the unequal concn. is executed in this way and the amt. of the necessary developer is decreased.
