Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive magnetic head apparatus which can accurately perform reproduction operation at a high transfer rate even when a track pitch is narrow. SOLUTION: A head chip of a recording head 10 is a multi-recording head constituted by integrating two(=m) groups of multi-head each composed of four magnetic heads by a thin film technology so that magnetic signals are reproduced simultaneously from eight recording tracks in each of which recording is performed with a prescribed track pitch. Each of first group magnetic heads H11 to H14 is constituted such that each head width is equal to a track pitch Tp of a recording track formed in a magnetic tape 2, and among the heads H11 to H14, the heads adjacent to one another are arranged so as to be deviated in the longitudinal direction of the recording track. Also, these two groups of multi-heads are adjacent to each other on the head chip of the reproducing head 10, and arranged so as to be deviated by a distance D determined by an expression D=Tp×q×(m×n+1)=12T. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant maintaining an excellent lubricating property under various using conditions, retaining the lubricating effect for a long time, and providing an excellent traveling property, abrasion resistance, durability, etc., a recording medium by using the same and a carboxylic acid-based compound constituting the same. SOLUTION: This lubricant is formed by using a carboxylic acid-based compound expressed by general formula (1) and having at least 2 carboxy groups and one ester bond [e.g. a compound expressed by chemical formula (1)] (wherein, Rf is a non-substituted or substituted, or saturated or unsaturated fluorine-containing hydrocarbon group or hydrocarbon group; Es is an ester bond; and R may be none but is a non-substituted or substituted, or saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group) as a constituting material, and the lubricant is held on the recording layer of the recording medium or within the recording medium. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing device capable of performing a proper reproduction even when variance occurs in a recording track width and an error occurs in the attaching of a reproducing head. SOLUTION: First, data is read from each track formed in a tape recording medium by a head disposed on a rotary drum, thereby measuring an error rate. Then, based on the measured error rate, the worst track of a highest error rate is detected from the tracks on the tape recording medium. Further, the group of two heads capable of executing reproduction from the detected worst track at a lowest error rate is detected from the measured error rate. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to improve the precision of a track width of recording tracks, narrow the width of the recording tracks, and then increase the density of the recording tracks. SOLUTION: The recording head width of an A-azimuth head is formed to be a multiple of 1.5 of a recording track width or over, the A-azimuth heads are located so that a track pattern pitch recorded by a plurality of the A- azimuth heads is nearly twice the recording track width, the recording head width of a B-azimuth head is formed identical to the recording track width above, the B-azimuth heads are located so that a track pattern pitch recorded by a plurality of the B-azimuth heads is twice the recording track width, and a plurality of the B-azimuth heads are placed at positions overlapped in the circumferential direction of the rotary drum apparatus 2, and a plurality of the A-azimuth heads are placed at positions at which the A-azimuth heads form the track pattern on a recording tape medium 4 earlier than the track pattern formed by a plurality of the B-azimuth heads. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation of noise at the time of reading a signal coming from a magnetic tape in a magnetic recording/reproducing device provided with a magneto-resistance effect head, by preventing the leakage of an MR sense current to the magnetic tape from the magneto-resistance effect head. SOLUTION: A driving circuit 10 of the magneto-resistance effect head for driving the magneto-resistance effect head 21 is constituted so that a potential VMR of the head 21 to the ground becomes less than a breakdown voltage VBD.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the electrostatic discharge damage of a magneto-resistive head by suppressing the electrification of static electricity in loading, operating, etc., of a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: Antistatic films are formed on a lid 2, an upper shell 3, a transparent window 4 and at least either the inner side or the outer side of a lower shell 7 as the antistatic countermeasure for the lid 2, the upper shell 3, the transparent window 4 and the lower shell 7.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent magnetic heads and a magnetic recording medium from being worn away, to prevent the margin of selection of materials of them from being narrowed without making materials of them to be changed in quality and also to prevent a magnetic recording driving device from becoming inoperative even when there is change in a temperature environment under which it is used. SOLUTION: In this device, a temperature sensor 8 is disposed in the vicinity of the contact part of a magnetic tape 4 and magnetic heads 5a, 5b, a heating means 9 heating the inside of a VTR 1, a cooling means 10 cooling the inside of the VTR 1 and a control circuit 13 which stabilizes the temperature in the inside of the VTR 1 by comparing the temperature information obtained from the temperature sensor 8 and a preliminarily set temperature and by driving the heating means 9 or the cooling means 10.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the wear of a magnetic head which is small in tolerance of wear of a MR head, etc., and to remove soiling of the head, such as stain, effectively. SOLUTION: The magnetic tape drive assembly 1 which subjects a magnetic tape 5 to recording and reproducing by magnetic heads 3 and 3 for recording and reproducing which are arranged on a head drum 2 and move on a circular locus has a tape tension regulating means capable of controlling tape tension during traveling of the magnetic tape. The tape tension is temporarily increased by the tape tension adjusting means, and the contact pressure of the magnetic tape with the magnetic heads is increased and soiling, such as stain, is removed.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the wear of a recording/reproducing head having a small weal allowable amount in MR head or the like, and to effectively eliminate stains on the head caused by stain deposition or the like. SOLUTION: This magnetic tape driving device 1 where data are recorded/ reproduced on/from a magnetic tape 5 by recording/reproducing magnetic heads 3 and 3 moved on a circular locus and disposed on a head drum 2, is provided with a cleaning means 7 for cleaning a magnetic head by eliminating dusts, such as stain, stuck to the same, an error rate detecting means 15 for detecting the error rate of the magnetic tape during data recording or reproducing on or from the magnetic tape, and an error rate storing means 16 for storing the error rate detected by the error rate detecting means. When an error rate detected by the error rate detecting means is increased by a specified rate with respect to the error rate detected and stored at a given time, the magnetic head is cleaned by the cleaning means.

SOLUTION: In the magnetic tape driving device 1 which performs recording/ reproducing to/from a magnetic tape 5 by recording/reproducing magnetic heads 3, 3 which are arranged on a head drum 2 and are moved on a circular locus, the head, in the magnetic sensitive part of which a magnetoresistance effect element is used is used for the magnetic heads, a cleaning means 7 which performs cleaning by coming into contact with the magnetic heads is provided, a projected quantity B of the magnetic head from the outer periphery 2a of the head drum is set to 5-20 μm and also the tape tension of the magnetic tape is set to 2-6 g.
