    Abstract: PURPOSE:To realize a thinner type by reducing the height of the whole optical system and to manufacture recording optical system and reproducing optical system as an individual optical block by leading the reflected light of a reproduction light to a line sensor via the reflection light path independent from each incident light path. CONSTITUTION:The incident light path onto the optical recording medium of the recording light of recording optical systems 15-17 for recording an information signal on an optical recording medium 2, the incident light path onto the optical recording medium of the reproduction light of the reproduction optical system 30 for reproducing the information signal recorded on the optical recording medium and the reflection light path by the optical recording medium of the reproduction light of the reproduction optical system 30 are provided independently respectively. The structure projecting a recording light from about vertical direction on the optical recording medium 2 by bending it at the vicinity of the optical recording medium 2 by a light path changing means in the recording optical systems 15-17 is taken. A thinning type can thus be realized by reducing the height of the whole optical system, the recording optical system and reproducing optical system can be formed as an individual optical block by giving a room to the fitting accuracy of an optical part and the cost down can be realized as well.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a thin reader for optical recording cards by making an optical path passing a focusing lens parallel with recording faces of optical cards. CONSTITUTION:The light emitted from a light source 4 in the horizontal direction is made incident on the first reflective mirror 14 through a condenser lens 6, and the reflected light from the reflective mirror 14 passes through a window 13 to irradiate a main track TM on a card 1. The reading light of the main track TM is reflected on the second reflective mirror 15 so that the optical path is parallel with an upper face 11t of a case body 11, and this light is projected onto a photodetector 10, which is arranged on a side plate 11a of the case body 11, through an object lens 8 to read information signals recorded on the track TM. Since the lower limit of the height of the case body 11 is the sum of diameters of lenses 6 and 8, the device is made thin considerably.
