Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a t-butylphenol isomer having high purity and useful as a base material for oil-soluble phenolic resin or fine chemicals, by the adsorptive separation of a t-butylphenol isomer mixture using a specific zeolite as an adsorbent. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of o-, m- or p-t-butylphenol isomers is made to contact with an adsorbent consisting of a type-X or type-Y faujasite zeolite of formula (M is cation, preferably ion of metal of group IA, IB, IIA, etc., of the periodic table; n is atomic valence of the metal; x=2.5+ or -0.5 for type X and x=3-6 for type Y; y depends upon the degree of hydration) such as Na-X (type-X zeolite substituted with Na ion) which is a crystalline aluminosilicate. The contacting treatment is carried out preferably in liquid phase usually at room temperature -300 deg.C under atmospheric pressure -50kg/cm G. The t- butylphenol isomer absorbed by the above absorptive separation process is separated and recovered by conventional method.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a product having excellent characteristics as an adsorbent, catalyst, etc., in the titled process for production consisting in bringing an aq. mixture contg. a silica source, alumina source and alkali source into reaction by adding a specific polyoxyalkylene diamine to said mixture. CONSTITUTION:The aq. reactive mixture contg. the silica source, alumina source, alkali source and the polyoxyalkylene diamine which is expressed by the general formula of formula I and has 100-10,000 average mol.wt. is brought into reaction. In formula I, Z denotes the polyoxyalkylene group consisting of >=1 kinds of the repeating units expressed by formula II, R1, R2 denote H or lower alkyl group, n is 1, 2 or 3, m denotes an integer. The above-mentioned reactive mixture is put into an autoclave and after the autoclave is hermetically sealed, the mixture is kept stirred and is brought into reaction for a prescribed period at a prescribed temp. The resultant product is taken out after the end of the reaction and is washed with pure water until the product is made neutral. The intended crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite is obtd. when such product is filtered and dried.
