    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery with high capacity and high safety by specifying the energy density per unit volume of the battery and the energy density per unit surface area of a negative electrode sheet to which a negative electrode material is applied. SOLUTION: In a battery for which an electrode unit produced by spirally rolling a positive electrode sheet and an anode sheet is employed, the energy density per unit volume of the battery is set to be 300kWh/m or higher and the energy density per unit surface area of an anode sheet coating with an anode material is set to be 80Wh/m or lower, so that the negative electrode sheet coated surface area is widened. Consequently, in the case fierce inner short circuit locally occurs, decomposition of the battery content substances and heat generation in the peripheral part of the short circuited site due to heat generation by short circuiting current can be suppressed and an incident of smoking and firing can be ultimately prevented.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery having an excellent cycle characteristic and high safety by changing quantity of the electrode material to be applied on a surface of each electrode sheet in the longitudinal direction thereof. SOLUTION: In a battery using an electrode body, which is formed by spirally winding a positive electrode sheet and a negative electrode sheet, coated quantity of the electrode material 2, 3, 4 on at least one surface of at least one electrode of the electrode sheets is changed in the longitudinal direction of the electrode sheet. Balance between the positive electrode and the negative electrode opposite to each other is maintained at the optimal condition in response to a curvature of the spiral by changing the coated quantity of the electrode material 2-5 from the center of the spiral to the periphery thereof. The electrode material is desirably coated so that the coated quantity of at least one outer peripheral surface becomes larger, as it comes closer to the center of an electrode body, and the coated quantity of at least one inner peripheral surface becomes smaller, as it comes closer to the center of the electride body. Coated quantity of the electrode material in the longitudinal direction of the sheet can be changed by coating the electrode material plural times.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of internal short circuit and enhance safety by cleaning the surface and edge of each of a positive electrode and a negative electrode by the specified method before the winding process of the positive electrode, the negative electrode, and a separator in the manufacture of a battery. SOLUTION: The surface and edge of an electrode sheet are cleaned with a wiping cloth for example before a process for constituting a spiral electrode body 3 by spirally winding a positive electrode and a negative electrode which are an electrode material in a battery through a separator. Or by spraying compressed air, sucking with a suction nozzle connected to a vacuum device, or with static electricity, the surface and edge of the electrode sheet are cleaned. As a substance bringing into contact with the positive electrode and the negative electrode, a sticky material is selected from the stand point of high cleaning effect. As the shape, a brush-, mop-, or roll-shape is suitably selected.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the peeling off of an electrode material from a current collector, and enhance the yield in the manufacture of a battery by press working an electrode sheet before heat treatment. SOLUTION: Electrode material paste is applied to a current collector and dried, then pressure is applied to an electrode sheet with a press, and heat treatment is performed. By performing heat treatment after press working, the contact surface area between the current collector and the electrode material is sufficiently enlarged, the adhesion of the electrode material to the current collector is increased, and the peeling off during winding is hardly generated. The press process is divided twice or more, and preferably, the heat treatment is performed between the press processes. The temperature of the heat treatment is preferable to be higher than the temperature of drying to increase the adhesion of the electrode material to the current collector.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery with long cycle life and high capacity by constituting with an electrode body obtained by spirally winding a positive electrode and a negative electrode through a separator and having specified durometer hardness D. SOLUTION: A positive electrode is formed in such a way that, for example, 80wt.% LiCoO2 acting as a positive active material, 5wt.% acetylene black acting as a conductive material, and 5wt.% polyvinylidene fluoride acting as a binder are mixed, the mixture is dispersed in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone to prepare slurry, the slurry is uniformly applied to the both surfaces of an aluminum foil having a thickness of 20μm for example, dried, then pressed with a roll. A negative electrode is formed in such a similar way to the positive electrode that PAN base carbon fibers are formed in short fibers serving as a negative active material, a binder and a conductive material same as the positive electrode are mixed in the same ratio as the positive electrode to prepare slurry. Durometer hardness D of an electrode body obtained is preferably specified to 30-70, and tensile strength is preferably specified to 80-1000g/cm. A battery with long cycle life and high capacity can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable highly selective separability and high water permeability to be exhibited even in operation under low pressure by a method wherein a membrane surface is treated by irradiation with ultraviolet rays in a reverse osmosis membrane for separating components of a liquid mixture by selective permeation. CONSTITUTION: In a reverse osmosis membrane being a dual membrane wherein in an asymmetrical model used suitably for manufacture of super pure water used for making freshwater from seawater, desalinization of salt water, manufacture of semiconductor, etc., a separating function layer having a membrane-separating function made of a material different from a finely porous support membrane, is covered on the support membrane, a membrane surface is treated by irradiation with 10-400nm ultraviolet rays. Further, the separating function layer forming the dual film is formed of a cross-linked polymer or cross-linked aromatic polyamide. Then, the carboxylic group concentration of the membrane surface -COOH/Ctotal is at least 0.015. When the separating function layer is formed of a cross-linked polyamide, 0.05wt.% of salt water is used. When a reverse osmosis test is carried out under conditions of 0.34MPa pressure and 25 deg.C temperature, permeability of water is made to be at least 0.4m /m .day.
