    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for the production of plastic materials having improved surface bonding properties for bonding other materials to the plastic materials. The new method comprises passing the plastic material through an electrically charged flame. The apparatus used to perform the method may have several embodiments which include an electrical power supply circuit, a discharge electrode, a burner, and a chill-roller for supporting the plastic material.

The film is characterized in that it comprise s a substrate and, formed thereon, a polymer resin layer and a vapor-deposited film of a metal and/or a metal oxide and that at least 80 wt.% of the polyme r resin layer is accounted for by a polymer of an unsaturated compound having at least two ethylene bonds and/or acetylene bonds per molecule and having neither an acrylic nor methacrylic group. The film having a vapor-deposited metal coating is usable as a packaging film having gas-barrier properties, a film for capacitors, etc.

    Abstract: In plasma-treating the inner surface of a plastic tube, the invention provides a treating method which ensures stable treatment under readily operative conditions. The present invention relates to a method comprising the steps of placing a plastic tube inside an electrically insulating tube wherein the difference between the inner diameter of the insulating tube and the outer diameter of the plastic tube is less than 2 mm, letting a gas into the plastic tube, keeping the inner pressures of both tubes at a reduced pressure, applying a high voltage across electrodes disposed outside the electrically insulating tube to initiate and sustain discharge inside the plastic tube and thus plasma-treating the inner surface of the plastic tube.
