Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve a good strength in the lateral direction, electromagnetic exchanging properties and slit properties of a film by a method wherein the ratio between the F-5 value in the longitudinal direction and the F-5 value in the lateral direction is specified and the ratio between the refractive index in the longitudinal direction and the refractive index in the lateral direction are also specified. CONSTITUTION:The F-5 value in the lateral direction of a film is more than 14kg/mm , the ratio between the F-5 value in the longitudinal direction and that in the lateral direction is less than 1.1 and the ratio (MD/TD) between the refractive index in the longitudinal direction and that in the lateral direction is more than 0.975. Polyethylene terephthalate is preferable especially as polyester. In a manufacture, the material is melted and extruded in a filmy state by an extruding machine, made into an amorphous state by quenching and solidifying, stretched and oriented in two steps in a longitudinal direction. The stretching temperature is a glass temperature (Tg)-Tg+60 deg.C and the second step stretching is performed at a temperature lower by at least 5 deg.C than the stretching temperature of the first step. Then the two step stretching and orientation is performed in the lateral direction.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable even any crystalline polymer to be stably successively biaxially orientated by a method wherein a degree of crystallization of a polymer film prior to orientation is specified. CONSTITUTION:When a film consisting of crystalline polymer is successively orientated biaxially such as in a length direction and a width direction, a degree of crystallization of a film consisting of polymer prior to orientation is made under 15%. The crystalline polymer means a polymer which can be crystallized by heating, and should preferably be polyamide, polybutylene terephthalate, polyhexamethylene terephthalate, polyoxymethylene, and copolymer thereof. In order to obtain a good plainness film of under 10% in degree of crystallization, a combined method of electrostatic impression and contact casting using surface tension of water is especially preferable.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a good adhesive strength with a magnetic layer by forming, on the surface of a laminate film, high density and uniformly high projections by means of particles added in the layer of the laminate film, and making the moisture tensile force on the film surface into a specific value or more. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film is of the type of biaxially oriented thermoplastic wherein a film consisting mainly of thermoplastic resin A and particles is laminated at least on one surface of a film consisting mainly of thermoplastic resin B, and the thickness of laminate film of the thermoplastic resin A is 0.005-3 mum, the average particle diameter is 0.1-10 times of the thickness of the laminated film, and the content of the particle is 0.5-50 wt.%, and further, the moisture tensile force of the laminated film surface is 45 dyne/cm or more. When the thermoplastic resin A has, as a main constitutional component, at least a kind of a structural unit selected from ethyleneterephthalate ethylene alpha,beta - bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylate, ethylene 2,6-naphthalate unit, the adhesive property with a magnetic layer is further improved. In the case of employing crystal polymer, in particular polyester, as the thermoplastic resin B, the durability of the entire film becomes good.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title film having excellent scratch resistance and friction coefficient by utilizing thermoplastic resin contg. particles and regulating a relation between the size of the particles and thickness of the film, the content and the thickness of the film to a specified range and specifying the Young's modulus of the film, the product of rupture strength and rupture strain and the flocculation energy density of thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film is constituted of thermoplastic resin A and particles as a main component. Young's modulus EA in the lengthwise direction of the film is regulated to at least 400 kg/mm , the product sigmaA of rupture strength and rupture strain in the lengthwise direction is regulated to at least 20 kg/mm . Mean particle diameter of these particles is regulated to 0.2-5 times of thickness of the film. The content of these particles is regulated to 0.1-30 wt.% and thickness of the film is regulated to 0.01-3mum. Further as the thermoplastic resin A, substance having flocculation energy density of at least 130 cal/mol is utilized and ethylene terephthalate and ethylene -2,6-naphthalate are prefereably utilized. As the particles, spherical silica particles based on colloidal silica and the particles (e.g. cross-linked polystyrene) based on a cross-linked high polymer, etc., are preferably utilized.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve drastically gas barrier properties in case of metallizing of a metal such as aluminum, by a method wherein the title film is of a biaxially oriented film of thermotropic crystalline polyester having a mold ratio of a specific structural unit and mean surface roughness of a widthwise direction and a ratio between the Young's moduli of a longitudinal direction and widthwise direction of at least one surface are specified. CONSTITUTION:The title film is of a biaxially oriented film of thermotropic crystalline polyester where a structural unit is constituted of formulas (I) to (IV), a structural unit [(I)+(II)] is 55-95 mol% of [(I)+(II)+(III)], a structural unit (III) is 45-5 mol% of the [(I)+(II)+(III)] and a mol ratio of the structural unit (I)/(III) is 75/25-95/5. Mean surface roughness Ra of a widthwise direction is 3-50 nm and ratio between the Young's moduli of lengthwise direction and widthwise direction is 10:1-1:3 on at least one surface. The structural unit (I) is a structural unit formed of p-hydroxy benzoic acid, the structural unit (II) is a structural unit formed of 4, 4'-dihydroxy biphenyl and the structural unit (III) is a structural unit formed of ethylene glycol. Then the structural unit (IV) is a structural unit of polyester formed of aromatic dicarboxylic acid selected out of terephthalic acid and isophthalic acid.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the adhesiveness of a magnetic layer by extremely thinly laminating a laminated polymer, thereby forming the projections consisting of the contained inert particles of a high density and uniform height on the surface of the polymer layer. CONSTITUTION:The polymer having >=80 deg.C crystallization parameter DELTATcg is laminated by co-extrusion to 0.1 to 1mum thickness onto at least one surface of a base film consisting of a thermoplastic resin. The inert particles which can form the projections on the surface of the laminated polymer layer are incorporated into at least either of the thermoplastic resin constituting this base or the laminated polymer layer. The magnetic layer is laminated on the surface of this laminated polymer layer. The adhesiveness of the magnetic layer laminated on this film is improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To contrive to enhance the scratch resistance of film by a structure wherein a layer, which consists of composition having main component of thermotropic liquid crystal polymer and has the predetermined thickness, is laminated onto at least one side of thermoplastic resin layer. CONSTITUTION:The film concerned is produced by laminating thermotropic liquid crystal polymer onto at least one side of biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin layer. The necessary thickness of the thermotropic liquid crystal layer of the film is 0.01-5mum. The thickness of the thermotropic liquid crystal polymer layer, which lies out of said range, is not favorable, since the resultant film shows poor scratch resistance. Thus, since the flexibility of, thermoplastic resin and the stiffness and strength of thermotropic liquid crystal polymer can be utilized to their maxima, the scratch resistance of the film can be enhanced.
