    Abstract: A liquid crystal display cell comprising a pair of facing plastic films, a pair of transparent electrodes, each said electrode being formed on the facing surfaces of the films, a liquid crystal enclosed between the films, and a pair of polarizing films, each being provided on the opposite surface of the plastic film, the plastic film comprising a polyester film having a density of 1.380 DIFFERENCE 1.420 g/cm3 and three-way refractive indexes within the following range: -0.03 1.525 wherein n1=refractive index in the principal oriented direction; n2=refractive index in the direction intersecting perpendicularly to n1 and n3; and n3=refractive index in the direction of film thickness. The liquid crystal display cell thus constructed according to the present invention offers excellent flexibility and a nice display with clarity and lightness. Additionally, the present cell is particularly suitable for thin electronic calculators and liquid crystal televisions with a large and/or curved display area.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a polyester laminated film which comprises a transparent layer (1) and a delustered layer (2) laminated at least on one side face of the transparent layer. The transparent layer is formed by a biaxially stretched polyester film mainly composed of polyethylene terephthalate, while the delustered layer is made of an at least uniaxially stretched polyester film which is mainly composed of a polyethylene terephthalate copolymer containing, as a copolymer composition, 1 to 20 mol.% of the delustered layer of H &lparstr& OCH2CH2 &rparstr& OH or H &lparstr& OCH2CH2 &rparstr& n-1 O-X-O &lparstr& CH2CH2 &rparstr& n-1H (wherein n is an integer from 2 to 140, and X represents and which also contains inert inorgantc particles (2 min ) of 0.3 to 20 microns diameter in an amount 3 to 40% by weight of the delustered layer. Film according to the present invention as described above is roughened on the surface. and has excellent writability and transcribability by pencils, ink, indian ink, etc., combined with an excellent transparency, and therefore, is very useful for use as tracing films and the like.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film with high modulus of elasticity in a good state by stretching a polyester film crosslinked in a non-stretched state by three times or more in one direction and further stretching the same by three times or more in the direction right-angled to said direction. CONSTITUTION:In a case containing particles other than a raw material, desired effect is obtained because stretchability becomes well still more. In the case of particles with a particle size ratio (the long diameter/short diameter ratio of a particle) of 1.0-1.3, especially, spherical particles, desired effect is obtained because stretchability becomes well still more. The content of particles is not especially limited but it is desirable to set said content to 0.15-1wt.% because stretchability becomes well still more. When a crosslinking component of a thermally non-crosslinkable type is used, a non-stretched film is irradiated with a necessary amount of high energy beam such as electron beam or ultraviolet rays to prepare a non-stretched film with a necessary gel ratio. It is necessary to set stretching magnification to 3 times or more, pref., 3-6 times in both longitudinal and lateral directions.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make the coefficient of linear expansion with humidity of a film smaller and that in all directions on the surface of the film uniform and at the same time improve the widthwise change of a product film by a method wherein a specified simultaneous biaxial stretching is applied to a polyester film which is subjected to sequential biaxially stretching so as to have a specified birefringence. CONSTITUTION:First, polyethylene terephthalate is melt-extruded at 285 deg.C and then quenched so as to make a substantially amorphous sheet. Secondly, the resultant sheet is stretched lengthwise between a pair of nip rolls and cooling rolls which are located apart from the nip rolls by 2mm by one step, with the draw ratio of 3.2-3.3 and then cooled. Thirdly, the resultant sheet is stretched crosswise by the tentering method at 100 deg.C with the draw ratio of 3.1-3.5 and further continuously held at 100 deg.C for 5sec under the state that the width of the sheet is fixed and then cooled down to normal temperatures. Fourthly, the resultant biaxially stretched film is furthermore stretched with a simultaneous biaxially stretching tenter at 150 deg.C with the draw ratio in each direction of 1.5-1.7 and, after that, heat-set under tension at 200 deg.C. As for the polyethylene terephthalate film which is obtained by simultaneously biaxially stretching and then heat-setting a sequentially biaxially stretched film, smaller coefficient of linear expansion with humidity can be realized and the change in all directions on the surface of a film is realized to be made smaller.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the traveling stability of a film, and prevent a reproduced image from swinging when employed as a magnetic recording medium by forming projections with high density and uniform height on the surface of a laminate film by means of particles added in the laminate film. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially polyester film is formed such that a film consisting mainly of thermoplastic resin A and particles is laminated at least on one surface of a film consisting mainly of thermoplastic resin B, and the average height of the projections on the surface of laminate film of the thermoplastic resin A formed by means of the particles is 1/3 or above of the average particle diameter of the particle, and the surface resistance in the laminate film side is 1 X 10 OMEGA/square or below. When the thermoplastic resin A has, as a main constitutional component, the constitutional units of ethylenterephthalate, ethylene alpha,beta-bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylate, and the like, the swing preventive property of reproduced images becomes good. And, when polyester employed as the thermoplastic resin B, the durability of the entire of a film is enhanced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal polymer film superior in shock resistance, by making the title film into a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer having a specific thickness, dapples in thickness and Young's modulus. CONSTITUTION:Since the title film is of that comprised of a composition consisting mainly of a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer, whose difference in Young's modulus between a longitudinal and widthwise directions (longitudinal direction-widthwise direction), thickness and dapples in thickness are respectively 500-600kg/mm , 1-100/mum and within a range of not exceeding 20%, a liquid crystal polymer film whose shock resistance is favorable can be provided as mechanical characteristics possessed by the liquid crystal polymer is maintained. Although the thermotropic liquid crystal polymer is not limited specifically and a matter known to public can be used, in case of thermotropic liquid crystal polyester, it is especially preferable since shock resistance becomes more favorable. In the event that a surface layer part and the central part are oriented respectively in the longitudinal and widthwise directions and in the event that a ratio A/B between a thickness A of, the surface layer part and the while thickness B of the film falls within a range of 0.01-0.7, the shock resistance becomes more favorable. In the event that mean heights of protrusions of the surface of the film is 30-50nm, dapples in thickness becomes more favorable.
