Abstract:
Disclosed is an analyzer for determining the presence, absence or amount of an analyte in a sample, wherein the analyzer comprises: (a) an electromagnetic radiation source (301) that emits electromagnetic radiation that defines an interrogation space comprising a focused spot of a beam from the electromagnetic radiation source (301); (b) a capillary flow cell (313) for passing a sample through the interrogation space; (c) a source of motive force for moving the sample in the capillary flow cell (313); (d) an electromagnetic radiation detector (309) operatively connected to the interrogation space that detects photons emitted from the interrogation space during a plurality of bins; and (e) a processor (310) operatively connected to the detector (309), wherein the processor determines the presence, absence or amount of an analyte in a sample by: (i) determining a threshold photon value corresponding to a background signal in the interrogation space, (ii) determining the presence of a photon emitting species comprising or corresponding to the analyte in the interrogation space in each bin of the plurality of bins by identifying bins having a photon value greater than the threshold value, (iii) comparing the number of bins having a photon value greater than the threshold value to a standard curve that is generated using one or more samples of known standard concentrations.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of controlling a product analysis spectrometer, the spectrometer comprising a light source (LS) comprising several light-emitting diodes (LD1-LD4) having respective emission spectra covering in combination a band of analysis wavelengths, the method comprising steps consisting in: providing a supply current (I1-I4) to at least one of the light-emitting diodes so as to illuminate it, measuring a luminous intensity (LFL1- LFL4) emitted by the light source by measuring a current at a terminal of at least one other of the light-emitting diodes which is kept unlit, determining as a function of each measurement of luminous intensity a setpoint value (LC1-LC4) of the supply current for each lit diode, and regulating the supply current for each lit diode so that it corresponds to the setpoint value.

Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain the quantity of light required for measurement and to enable high-precision measurement, even if a rotary body or the like is deformed due to a change in an environmental temperature or the like. SOLUTION: As an initializing processing which is performed before a μTAS chip holding a sample (blood) is set, a measuring chamber is heated to a preset temperature by a heating means 35. A rotational position where a light value of the light received at a light-receiving part 43 through an aperture part 23 reaches a threshold value or more is sought while a rotary body 25 is rotated by a minute amount, and the rotational position is stored as a measurement position. Next, the μTAS chip is set to a chip holding part 22, and a processing before measurement, which includes weighing of a sample liquid in the μTAS chip, mixing of the sample liquid and a reagent, delivering a measurement liquid to a measuring area or the like, is performed. Then the rotary body 25 is rotated to the measurement position, a light from a light source 41 is introduced into the measuring area of the μTAS chip through the aperture 23, the light passing through the measuring area is received by the light-receiving part 43, and thus absorbance of this measurement liquid is measured.
