Abstract: A vehicle seat integrated to selectively provide an adult seat in an adult seat mode and a child's seat in a child seat mode, the child's seat including a child's seat belt assembly including a pair of shoulder belts extending from the cushioned child's seat back over the shoulders of a child in a sitting position on the cushioned child's seat. Each of the shoulder belts when the child's seat belt assembly is in a restraint condition including a generally straight portion which extends forwardly from a position rearwardly of a support surface provided by the child's seat back through a space in the cushioned child's seat back accommodating the same to a position adjacent the child's shoulder. The child's seat belt assembly is constructed and arranged to automatically accommodate any particular child within a nominal size range between a 20-pound child and a 60-pound child without the straight portions having any appreciable forwardly and upwardly extent even for a 60-pound child or any appreciable ear interference even for a 20-pound child. The child's seat belt assembly is constructed and arranged to accomplish the aforesaid automatic accommodation by restricting the straight portions to extend forwardly from the support surface automatically from progressively lower levels at progressively greater angles to the horizontal as the particular child held in the restraint condition of the child's seat belt assembly is of progressively diminishing size within the range.

Abstract: A seat for a motor vehicle providing at least two modes of operation including an adult seat mode and a child seat mode. The seat has a rigid frame assembly(12) having a seat cushion (16) carried thereon, a rigid seat back frame assembly (18) having a seat back cushion assembly (23) carried thereon, the seat back frame assembly (18) being mounted with respect to the rigid frame assembly (12) for movement between an operative, generally vertical orientation and a second inoperative orientation whereby the seat back frame assembly (18) is disposed in generally horizontal orientation in generally overlying relation with the seat cushion (16). The seat back cushion assembly (23) includes a movable cushion assembly (34) mounted on the seat back frame assembly (18) and being movable between (I) an adult mode position wherein the movable cushion assembly provides an adult seat back and (II)a child mode position wherein the movable cushion assembly (34) provides a child's seat disposed in overlying relation with the seat cushion (16). The seat further includes a locking mechanism (42) for locking the seat back frame assembly (34,234) in its operative position upon deployment of the movable cushion assembly (34) to its child mode position.

Abstract: The present invention is a removable vehicle seat assembly for use with a motor vehicle having an interior floor structure with at least a portion thereof covered by a yieldingly deformable material. A latch and release assembly is operatively associated with a riser support structure. The latch and release assembly is configured to be engaged with front and rear anchor members of the interior floor structure and releasably locked in one of a range of releasably locked positions. The latch and release assembly is constructed to be engaged with the front and rear anchor members and releasably locked in an initial one of the range of releasably locked positions. The removable vehicle seat assembly is moved downwardly towards the interior floor structure in response to an application of a downwardly directed force thereto when the latch and release assembly is releasably locked in the initial one of the range of releasably locked positions such that the yieldingly deformable material is yieldingly compressed to a decreased thickness. The latch and release assembly moves progressively from the initial one of the range of releasably locked positions to a subsequent one of the range of releasably locked positions corresponding to the decreased thickness of the yieldingly deformable material during downward movement of the removable vehicle seat assembly. The latch and release assembly is engaged with the front and rear anchor members and releasably locked in the subsequent one of the range of releasably locked positions to thereby prevent upward movement of the removable vehicle seat assembly away from the interior floor structure and to maintain the yieldingly deformable material at the aforesaid decreased thickness.

Abstract: A vehicle seat track assembly wherein guide elements are mounted on one of a pair of cooperating track structures. The guide elements have generally vertically facing guide surfaces which have been broached to be positioned a predetermined distance vertically from generally opposed spaced surfaces on the one track structure. The vertically facing guide surfaces slidably engage generally oppositely facing surfaces of another of the track structures so as to effectively prevent relative vertical movement in a direction tending to vertically separate the track structures. When used in a manually actuated mode, the track assembly includes a locking assembly comprising a pair of abutting metal plates stamped to provide abutting elongated mounting portions having a plurality of spaced abutting locking portions extending transversely therefrom, a mounting structure within which the mounting portions of the abutting plates extend and a spring constructed and arranged to resiliently bias the mounting structure and abutting plates into a locking position wherein the locking portions are within selected notches and to enable the mounting structure and abutting plates to be manually moved against the resilient bias into a releasing position wherein the locking portions are out of the notches.

Abstract: An electrical circuit for a switch having a lockout feature is described. The circuit permits both a primary operator and an auxiliary operator to operate a bi-directional motor by activating separate low-current switches. The circuitry enables the primary operator to disable the auxiliary operator's ability to operate the motor by activating a lockout switch. With the lockout switch activated, the primary operator can operate the motor without interference from the auxiliary operator. High-current power switches, activated via logic circuitry rather than by the operators, are used to complete a power circuit for energizing the motor.

Abstract: The present invention is a window regulator mechanism for vertically moving a window panel mounted within a motor vehicle door. The mechanism comprises an elongated guide rail member (18) mounted within the vehicle door and having a base portion (66) with a pair of side flange portions (56, 62). A first of the pair of side flange portions (56, 62) has a nose portion (60) extending laterally outwardly therefrom. A second of the pair of side flange portions (56, 62) has a convex exterior surface (84). A window moving structure (17) engages the window panel and has a base member and a pair of side leg portions (48) extending from opposing sides thereof. One of the side leg portions has a nose-receiving groove (58) formed in an inwardly facing surface thereof. The window moving structure is slidably mounted on the guide rail member. A manually operable actuating mechanism is constructed to slidably move the window moving structure vertically along the guide rail member. The nose portion (60) of the guide rail member is received within the nose-receiving groove (58) of the window moving structure and the convex exterior surface (84) of the guide rail member (18) is slidably engaged with an inwardly facing surface (54) of another of the side leg portions (48) of the window moving structure (17) opposite the nose-receiving groove such that: a) relative pivotal movement between the guide rail member (18) and the window moving structure (17) about a fixed pivot axis (P) extending longitudinally through the nose-portion (60) is permitted and b) relative movement between the guide rail member (18) and the window moving structure (17) in a radial direction with respect to the fixed pivot axis (P) is substantially restricted to thereby reduce vibrations which occur as a result of forcibly moving the vehicle door into closing engagement with a motor vehicle body.
