    Abstract: Hydraulic actuating unit (4), in particular for raising a load, such as a hospital bed, comprising a reservoir (13) for hydraulic fluid and a hydraulic piston cylinder device (10), the cylinder of the latter having its end connected to the reservoir (13) through a supply conduit (11) containing a hydraulic plunger pump (12) with section and pressure valve means (12a, 12b) and through a return conduit (18) containing an orifice (19) and a normally closed relieve valve (20) respectively, a branch conduit (14) leading to a hydraulic liquid accumulator (15) being branched off from said supply conduit (11) at a location between the cylinder (10) and the pressure valve means (12b), a check valve (16) being provided in said supply conduit (11) at a location between the branch conduit (11) and said cylinder (10), while a pressure dependent orifice (17) is provided between said check valve (16) and said branch conduit (14) to said accumulator (15). Special valve means (21) are provided to avoid the accumulator (15) to be completely discharged when actuating the relief valve (20) and also to prevent the accumulator (15) from delivering hydraulic fluid to the actuating unit (4) in case of a decrease of the load.

    Abstract: An individual segment flow regulator is shown having a two landed spool and two landed bore, all with the same nominal diameter, a plug, a spring and a sensing passage from the main spool of the valve. Supply oil entering between the two lands of the bore is separated from a sensing pressure by one spool land which is slidable within the bore. The other spool land meters the supply fluid. The metering land of the regulator spool opens away from the valve bore land to allow supply fluid through and can shut off the supply. A spring chamber above the spool senses the load pressure which opens the metering spool, thereby increasing the flow and therefore the pressure drop across the main spool area opening. Feedback pressure developed at the bottom of the metering land of the spool is used to close down the regulator spool as the flow, and therefore the pressure drop, across the main spool increases beyond the pre-load force of the bias spring. The feedback land at the bottom of the spool is also the metering land that controls supply pressure to the regulated pressure.

The support foot is inserted into a deep bore (2) in the housing (1), which is pref. shaped like e.g. a bone, and extends through the housing at right angles to the movement direction of the working piston (5) for the clamp lever movement. Clamp screws (34) permit the foot to be fixed at any point of the bore.

    Abstract: A proportional pressure control valve is disclosed which may be used for uni-directional or bi-directional fluid flow. An electromagnetic driver mounted in a driver cavity of a housing produces a magnetic flux path in response to a variable input current. The magnitude of the flux path is substantially proportinal to the input current. The flux path passes through an armature which is movable within the driver cavity. The armature is connected to a metering spool so that the two move in unison. The metering spool is movable within a main bore between a sealing position and an infinite number of open positions. The position of the metering spool determines the magnitude of fluid communication between pressure ports. A feedback section of the housing establishes a pressure feedback force which impacts on the position of the metering spool and the armature. The valve may also include a spring for biasing the metering spool to a fail-safe position within the housing. The proportional pressure control valve can be incorporated into a damper of a vehicle suspension system where the input current is governed by an electronic control unit of the vehicle. The electronic control unit may be responsive, in part, to the position of the suspension system through the use of a position feedback sensor.

    Abstract: An automatic, hydraulically actuated, sequencing valve 25 for use with a pair of hydraulic actuators (e.g. double acting hydraulic cylinders) includes a valve body 40 having a cylindrical bore 45 therein. Cam members 49 and 50 at either end of the bore are engaged by pins 62, 63 on the ends of a cylindrical spool 47, thereby rotating the spool 30 degrees each time it engages one of the cam members. A third cam member 78 incorporated into the spool alternately locks open one of a pair of check valves 57, 59 as said spool is pressure shifted between the two bore cam members. The third cam member operates a locking system which permits only one of the two hydraulic cylinders to operate at a time and in sequence.
