Abstract: A method of managing a logical address and a device thereof are provided to use an unused logical address directly without regard to its device type, thereby supporting a larger number of devices. A controller of an AV device checks whether a logical address is being used from 0th to 15th in sequence by transmitting a polling message to a 0th logical address because logical addresses till 15th are available in HDMI CEC(High Definition Multimedia Interface Consumer Electronics Control)(S410). An ACK(ACKnowledge character) is received from a DTV connected to a network(S420). Therefore, the controller detects that 0th address is being used by another device(S430) so the controller searches 1st address(S440).
