    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery with high capacity and high charge/discharge efficiency by constituting a positive electrode with positive active material powder having a particle size of primary particles of 0.5μm or less. SOLUTION: A positive active material 201, a binder 202, and a conducive auxiliary material 203 are mixed, and a solvent is added to the mixture to adjust the viscosity to prepare paste. The paste is placed on a current collector 200, dried to form a positive active material layer 204, an a positive electrode 205 is obtained. The positive electrode 205 is constituted with the positive active material 201 having a particle size of primary particles of 0.5μm or less, and if necessary the thickness is adjusted with a roll press. As the conductive auxiliary material 203, amorphous carbon such as acetylene black is used, and its shape is made powdery or fibrous. As the binder 202, such as fluororesin and polyethylene are used. By using a material with high conductivity and inactive to battery reaction as the current collector of the positive electrode 205, or negative electrode electrons consumed in the electrode reaction are efficiently supplied, and current generated is collected.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a secondary battery having improved charging/discharging ability by including a member which is deformed at the predetermined temperature and applying/releasing a pressure to/from a part of the inside of a battery case. CONSTITUTION: A secondary battery is formed by inserting and including a group of electrodes, in which a negative electrode 101 and a positive electrode 102 are opposedly arranged via a separator 103, into a battery case 104 with a member 105 whose shape is changed at a desired temperature. When the battery is heated above the desired first temperature, the member 105 is deformed, so that the volume occupied by the group of electrodes is reduced, the group of electrodes is sufficiently pressurized in the vertical direction in the inside of the case 104, and a battery internal impedance is reduced, and consequently, a secondary battery provided with improved charging/discharging ability is obtained. If a substance whose shape can be reversibly changed is used for the member 105, a pressure applied on the group of electrodes is released at the second temperature other than the actual using temperature, so that the group of electrodes can be easily pulled out when the battery is disassembled.

By this constitution, even if charging/discharging are repeated, a current collecting member will never be degraded, and can thereby maintain its current collecting capacity. Therefore, an increase in charging voltage can be prevented at the time of charging at low amperage current, the occurrence of dendrite is thereby restrained, and its cycle life can be extended.

CONSTITUTION:Paste where 3% carbon powder of acetyleneblack by weight and 5% polyfluoridevinylidene by weight are mixed with positive electrode active material composed of lithium manganse oxide, and prepared while N- methylpyrrolidone is being added, is applied to an aluminum foil, dried and formed into a positive electrode 102. An aluminum foil larger than by 2mm in dismeter than the positive electrode 102 is etched with 5% potassium hydroxide solution by weight, and formed into a negative electrode 101. The positive electrode 102 and the negative electrode 101 are disposed face to face with each other while a separator 105 made out of fine porous polypropylene as thin as 25mum is being held in electrolyte 104 which comprises lithiumboratetetrafluoride dissolved by 1mol in equivalent mixed solution of propylenecarbonate and dimethoxyethane, and formed into a lithium secondary cell.
