Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polymerizable proteoliposome imparted with stability by the introduction of polymerizable functional group and resistant to the deterioration of the acquired function of protein. CONSTITUTION:This polymerizable proteoliposome contains a polymerizable phospholipid of the formula [one or both of R1 and R2 are acyl of the formula R'-CH=CHCH=CHCO (R' is 5-17C alkyl) or one is the above acyl and the other is a saturated or unsaturated 10-22C fatty acid residue] and a protein capable of being supported with the liposome membrane constituted of the polymerizable phospholipid. When bacteriorhodopsin which is a membraneous protein transporting proton with light is used as the protein to be supported, the function of the protein cannot be developed because the proton concentration gradient formed by the light-irradiation of bacteriorhodopsin is not maintained in a state of monomer before polymerization. The function is first developed by polymerization and the development of the function and the extent of developed function of the protein can be controlled by controlling the polymerization degree. The particle size of liposome is also controllable by starting the polymerization when the particle diameter reaches the desired level.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable quantitative analysis of fat, especially amphipatic lipid forming an aggregate in an aqueous medium to be easily carried out by treating a sample with a surface active agent in an aqueous medium to prepare a sample-dispersed liquid, and measuring the absorbency of the ultraviolet portion of the sample-dispersed liquid. CONSTITUTION:Lipid is treated with a surface active agent and converted into a micell state in which its qualititative analysis by absorptiometry is possible. An aggregate of amphipatic lipid, e.g. phospholipid is treated with a surface active agent in an aqueous medium so as to form a micell state of the lipid with the surface active agent. A surface active agent which does not absorb the wavelength of an ultraviolet portion to be measured is employed and thereby the absorption of ultraviolet rays in the micelle state of the lipid with the surface active agent occurs only at the lipid and the absorbency depends on the concentration of the lipid. Therefore, the lipid concentration can be detected by measuring the absorbency. Wavelength can be selected somewhere between 230 and 290nm if it is apparent that no material other than the lipid coexists.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a large amount of a macro-liposome having a diameter of several ten mum or more, especially, several hundred mum under a mild condition by a simple process. CONSTITUTION:An alkali metal salt aqueous solution having a liposome dispersed therein is frozen and melted to be dialyzed to an aqueous solution or buffer solution whose salt concn. is lower than that of the alkali metal salt aqueous solution to obtain a macro-liposome. This macro-liposome is further held under a constant temp. condition with the range of 0-40 deg.C to fuse a plurality of the macro-liposomes to obtain a macro-lyposome having a larger diameter. In the case of a proteoliposome wherein membrane protein is contained in a lipid membrane, the fusion of a liposome is accelerated in the coexistence of membrane protein.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a photoelectric conversion element possessing a high photoelectric conversion power to be offered by a method wherein an electrolytic solution filled into a cell, a film separating a solution, and a means detecting a film potential change or a pH change induced through the intermediary of the film are provided. CONSTITUTION:A violet film extracted from an R1 stock is treated with an interfacial active agent to remove liquid, the chromophore of the violet film is substituted with naphthyl lecithinal using a part of bacteriorhodopsin as photoreceptive protein. 0.1mg/ml of bacteriorhodopsin and soybean phospholipid 8 are reconstituted into a plane film. Furthermore, the plane film containing bacteriorhodopsin is made to adsorb proteoribosome and fused together so as to be coincident with each other in a proton transfer directional property to obtain an ion transmitting film 3. The film 3 is quietly dipped into a microcell filled with 0.1mol/l of KCl solution, and the cell is separated into chambers 1 and 2 to constitute a photoelectric conversion element. pH electrodes 4 and 5 are dipped into the chamber 1 and the chamber 2. Values measured by the pH electrodes are converted into electric signals through pH meters 6, which are sent to microcomputers 9 through an amplifier 7.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title ink which is rapidly fixed on paper and cloths and has excellent fastness, by mixing a coloring matter having limited solubility in water, a water-soluble organic solvent having a specified solvency for this coloring matter and a specified surface tension, and water. CONSTITUTION:An ink containing as its constituents a coloring matter having a solubility in water of 0.1% or lower (at 20 deg.C); a water-soluble organic solvent which can dissolve 3% or more (at 20 deg.C) of this coloring matter and has a surface tension of 45 dyne/cm or less; and water. The coloring matter content, which depends upon the type of liquid medium component, the required characteristics of an ink, etc., is usually 0.2-20wt.% based on the total weight of the ink. Examples of the water-soluble organic solvents to be used, which are required to satisfy the aforementioned conditions, include 1,3-dimethyl-2- imidazoline and triethylene glycol monomethyl ether.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the title ink which has excellent shelf stability and gives prints having good water resistance, by dissolving a soluble sulfur due and an antioxidant in a liquid medium composed of at least water and an org. solvent. CONSTITUTION:0.1-15wt% soluble sulfur dye (e.g., C.I. Soluble Sulfur Yellow 9) or 0.1-15wt% in total of a soluble sulfur dye and a water-soluble anionic dye (e.g., C.I. Direct Yellow 86) in a ratio of 10:1-1:10, 0.1-10wt% antioxidant (e.g., hydroquinone) and optionally, a dispersant, a surfactant, a viscosity modifier, etc. are dissolved in a liquid medium composed of at least water and an inorg. solvent (e.g., methyl alcohol) to obtain an ink for use in ink jet recording, which has a surface tension of 35-65dyne/cm at 25 deg.C and a viscosity of not higher than 15cp. Recording is made by depositing droplets of the ink on a material to be recorded, on which fibrous components of said material are exposed.
