Also disclosed is a method for dispensing aqueous cleaning compositions at a point of use.
Abstract:
A peroxyacid antimicrobial concentrate and use composition is provided comprising a C1 to C4 peroxycarboxylic acid, and a C6 to C18 peroxyacid. The combination of these acids produces a synergistic effect, providing a much more potent biocide than can be obtained by using these components separately. Other components can be added to the composition such as hydrotrope coupling agents, stabilizers, etc. An effective antimicrobial use solution is formed at low concentrations when the concentrate composition is diluted with water to a pH in the range of about 2 to 8. Sanitizing of substantially fixed, 'in-place' processing lines in dairies, breweries, and other food processing operations in one utility of the composition.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for forming large solid blocks of a detergent composition (300) from molten form. The process employs a mold (10) with a plurality of linear heat exchange tubes (70) dispersed within the casting chamber (30). Also disclosed is a method of dispensing a large solid block of water-soluble detergent composition (300s).
Abstract:
The invention generally comprises a composition capable of sanitizing and disinfecting antimicrobial efficacy while also being ingestible as a food additive residue by humans and mammals. Specifically, the microbicidal composition of the invention generally comprises a carrier and an antimicrobial agent, wherein the antimicrobial agent generally comprises a C5 to C14 unsaturated monocarboxylic acid such as sorbic acid, in combination with an aromatic carboxylic acid such as benzoic acid. The antimicrobial composition of the invention is useful for both hard and soft surface sanitizing in environments such as farms, milk and food processing, fluid milk operations, institutional food preparation and serving areas, health care and child care facilities.
Abstract:
A process for producing a solid cast silicate-based cleaning compositions which includes the step of combining appropriate concentrations of an alkali metal silicate, an alkali metal hydroxide and a source of water to form a reaction mixture that solidifies into a reaction product which is processable at temperatures below the melting point or decomposition temperature of the reaction product. The process provides for the rapid manufacture of a solid cast alkaline cleaning composition without melting of the cast composition. Incorporation of appropriate amounts of a combination of a polyacrylate and a phosphonate into the cleaning composition cooperate with the silicate present in the composition to form a threshold system which is effective for controlling precipitation of both calcium and magnesium in a use solution.
Abstract:
Concentrated solid and liquid antimicrobial lubricating compositions which include (-) about 1-20 wt % of a diamine acetate salt having the formula [(R1 )NH(R2)NH3]+(CH/COO) - or [(R1)NH2(R2)NH3++](CH3COO)2- wherein R1 is a C10-18 aliphatic group or an ether group having the formula R10O(R11) wherein R10 is a C10-18 aliphatic group and R11 is a C1-5 alkyl group; and R2 is a C1-5 alkylene group, (-) about 0-30 wt % of an alcohol for the purpose of enhancing the physical stability of the composition, and (-) about 0-20 wt % of a nonionic surfactant. The liquid form of the lubricant composition includes a major proportion of water while the solid form of the lubricant composition includes an amount of a solidification agent effective for assisting in solidification of the composition. The lubricating compositions are particularly useful on the load bearing surfaces of conveyor belts used in food preparation where a combination of effective lubricity and efficacious antimicrobial activity are necessary.
Abstract:
Stable concentrated liquid and solid antimicrobial lubricating compositions can be formulated which include (-) 5 to 40 wt % of a C6-24 fatty acid, (-) 10 to 40 wt % of a quaternary ammonium salt, (-) an amount of an alkaline source sufficient to increase the pH of the composition to at least 8, and optionally (-) about 0.1 to 10 wt % of an amine. The balance of the liquid form of the composition constitutes water. The lubricating compositions are particularly useful on the load bearing surfaces of conveyor belts used in food preparation where a combination of effective lubricity and efficacious antimicrobial activity are necessary.
Abstract:
An improved foamer (1) is disclosed which uses a microporous element (22) contained within a housing (2), a small clearance (27) existing between the microporous element and the housing. A liquid (30) to be foamed is introduced into the housing while air is introduced into an interior region of the microporous element, the air (31) flowing outwardly through the microporous element and mixing with the liquid (30) within the passageway (27), thereby creating a foam which exits the housing at a suitable foam outlet (7).
Abstract:
The stability of polyvinyl films used to contain detersive systems may be enhanced by the use of a barrier coating composition to separate the film degrading components, i.e., acids, bases, and halogens, from these films. The barrier coatings may either encapsulate the individual film degrading components, or they may coat the entire detersive system.
Abstract:
A dispenser dispenses concentrated cleaning solution from a solid block (80) of a cleaning composition. The dispenser is configured to provide the concentrated cleaning solution at a substantially constant concentration during the entire useful life of the solid block (80) of the cleaning composition. The dispenser includes (i) a spray device (28) for directing a uniform dissolving spray onto an exposed surface of the solid block cleaning composition, and (ii) a positioning device for maintaining a substantially constant distance between the spray device (28) and the exposed surface of the solid block (80) of the cleaning composition as the exposed surface recedes due to dissolution by the dissolving spray. In the preferred embodiment the dispenser includes a housing (20) for the solid block (80). Water flow to the spray means (28) is automatically controlled by a spray control valve (44).
