A solid heavy duty laundry detergent composition having a zero phosphorus content is disclosed that has the capability of effectively conditioning service water. The detergent composition comprises a source of alkalinity, a water-conditioning vinyl polymer with pendant carboxyl groups, a water-conditioning copolymer of acrylic acid and itaconic acid, and at least one nonionic surfactant.

A process for producing a solid cast silicate-based cleaning compositions which includes the step of combining appropriate concentrations of an alkali metal silicate, an alkali metal hydroxide and a source of water to form a reaction mixture that solidifies into a reaction product which is processable at temperatures below the melting point or decomposition temperature of the reaction product. The process provides for the rapid manufacture of a solid cast alkaline cleaning composition without melting of the cast composition. Incorporation of appropriate amounts of a combination of a polyacrylate and a phosphonate into the cleaning composition cooperate with the silicate present in the composition to form a threshold system which is effective for controlling precipitation of both calcium and magnesium in a use solution.

A device and method for cleaning and deororizing a unit having an enclosed space not otherwise easily accessible for cleaning and doedorizing. A variety of containers holding compositions for generating an antimicrobially active gas may be employed therein. One such container includes a unitary container housing having a plurality of sealed compartments. Each compartment contains a composition for generating an antimicrobially active gas upon exposure to moist air. The container may be employed in other applications as well.

Procédé de fabrication de compositions de nettoyage sous forme compacte moulée, comprenant l'étape de combinaison des concentrations appropriées d'un silicate de métal alcalin, d'un hydroxyde de métal alcalin et d'une source d'eau pour constituer un mélange réactionnel se solidifiant en produit réactionnel qu'on peut traiter à des températures se situant au-dessous du point de fusion ou de la température de décomposition dudit produit réactionnel. Ledit procédé assure la fabrication rapide d'une composition de nettoyage alcaline, sous forme compacte moulée et ne fondant pas. L'incorporation de quantités appropriées d'une combinaison formée par un polyacrylate et un phosphonate dans la composition de nettoyage, coopère avec le silicate présent dans ladite composition pour constituer un système de seuil efficace pour commander la précipitation du calcium et du magnésium dans une solution.
