Abstract: The present disclosure relates to transmitting assistance information from a first node to a second node. In one embodiment, a first node includes a wireless transmitter and a wireless receiver. In response to transmitting a preference indicator for a first configuration to a second node via the wireless transmitter or receiving a reconfiguration request associated with the preference indicator for the first configuration, the first node starts a timer set to a value that defines an amount of time before the first node is permitted to transmit a preference indicator for a second configuration to the second node. The first node then blocks transmission of the preference indicator for the second configuration to the second node until the timer has expired. In this manner, excessive signaling of preference indicators from the first node to the second node is avoided.

Abstract: The exemplary embodiments describe a method for use in a user equipment (700), a method for use in a radio base station (600); a user equipment (700) and a radio base station (600). According to the exemplary embodiments, the user equipment (700) is configured to decide on application or not of a power reduction and to indicate it decision in a power headroom report intended for transmission to the radio base station (600). The radio base station (600) is configured to receive the power headroom report and based on the indicated information in the received power headroom report, the base station in made aware of an additional or special power backoff (e.g. to fulfill SAR requirements) has been applied and thereby able to distinguish it from normal power backoff or power reduction.

Abstract: In a wireless communication network where base stations receive protocol data units from mobile stations for ordered, sequential transfer as service data units to an associated core network, a method and a target base station supporting seamless handover of a mobile station from a source base station to the target base station are disclosed. The target base station (16-2) comprises an interface operative to receive service data units and sequence number information forwarded from the source base station and a handover processor. The forwarded service data units comprise those service data units being held at the source base station for sequential transfer to the associated core network and the forwarded sequence number information indicates sequence numbers corresponding to the forwarded service data units. The handover processor is operative to reorder the forwarded service data units as needed at the target base station for sequential transfer from the target base station to the associated core network. The mobile station (20) for use in a wireless communication network is also disclosed. The mobile station transmits protocol data units to a base station and the base station transfers corresponding service data units to an associated core network. The mobile station is configured for supporting seamless handover from a source base station to a target base station, and comprises a handover processor that is operative to regenerate new protocol data units for missing service data units and transmit the regenerated protocol data units responsive to signalling from the target base station that indicates which service data units are missing at the target base station or equivalently indicates which service data units have been successfully received, where the regenerated protocol data units are regenerated from corresponding service data units buffered at the mobile station. In a wireless communication network where base stations receive protocol data units from mobile stations for decompression and deciphering for ordered, sequential transfer as service data units to an associated core network, a source base station (16-1) for supporting seamless handover of a mobile station from the source base station to a target base station is disclosed. The source base station comprises a handover processor and an associated interface for forwarding from the source base station to the target base station service data units and sequence number information. The forwarded service data units comprise those service data units being held at the source base station for sequential transfer to the associated core network and the forwarded sequence number information indicates sequence numbers corresponding to the forwarded service data units.

Abstract: A technique of configuring link layer entities for a handover is described. In a method embodiment, the technique includes receiving from a recipient of protocol data units a supplemental status report for an existing ARQ connection in context with an imminent handover, determining service data units corresponding to buffered protocol data units taking into account information included in the supplemental report, and transferring the determined service data units to a link layer entity which is to establish a new ARQ connection to the recipient. The forced status synchronization that is based on the supplemental report prevents the transfer of service data units that have already been successfully received at the recipient.
