A method (600) for use in a wireless communications system (100) in which there is at least a first node (110) which controls the traffic to and from user terminals (130, 140) in a cell (120) within the system, so that there is downlink traffic in the system. The first node (110) transmits downlink traffic in radio frames, each of which comprises sub-frames. The first node (110) performs measurements on pre-defined system indicators in at least the first cell (120), and based on the results of the measurements, the first node is allowed to autonomously decide (615) to vary the number of available down link sub-frames used for down link traffic in the down link radio frames and also to vary (620) the content of the down link sub frames which are used, the decision being valid (625) for a time which is specified by the first node (110).
Abstract:
The invention aims to reduce the delay associated with setting up a session for a user terminal in a mobile communication network. A control unit for use in a wireless communication network for controlling a user terminal's ability to communicate with the network, comprising—at least one input for receiving event information about at least one trigger event indicating that the user terminal is likely to wish to communicate with the network within a predetermined period of time—decision logic for deciding whether the state of the terminal should be changed to enable it to communicate and—output means for triggering the a state change for the terminal to a state in which the terminal is able to communicate with the network, if the decision logic decides that this should be done.

Un método para mejorar una comunicación interactiva en tiempo real usando un servicio pulsar para hablar en un sistema de comunicaciones (10), el método que comprende el establecimiento de una conexión en tiempo real, interactiva entre un primer terminal de comunicaciones remitente (12) y un segundo terminal de comunicaciones de recepción (16), y la transmisión de información digital inicial en la conexión, el establecimiento de la conexión que requiere un tiempo de puesta en marcha, caracterizado por compensar un tiempo de retardo asociado con el establecimiento de la conexión en tiempo real, interactiva reproduciendo el contenido digital inicial a una velocidad aumentada en el segundo terminal de comunicaciones de recepción.
Abstract:
A method is described for associating a data packet (DP) with a packet bearer (PB) in a user equipment (UE1) of a communication network. The data packet is sent in a data flow from an application function of the user equipment, the packet bearer (PB) is established with the user equipment to transmit the data packet (DP) over the communication network towards a further entity, and the user equipment is adapted to establish different packet bearers. The method comprises the steps of identifying the flow with the data packet in a control entity of the communication network, determining the packet bearer for association with said flow from the different packet bearers in a policy function of the control entity, determining a routing level identification of the further entity, instructing the user equipment to install a packet filter based on the routing level identification, wherein the packet filter associates data packets comprising the routing level identification of the further entity with the determined packet bearer, providing the routing level identification to the application function, including the routing level identification into the data packet, and forwarding the data packet (DP) on the determined packet bearer (PB). A corresponding network, control entity, monitoring entity and computer program are also described.
