    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair cosmetic excellent in water solubility, having foaming properties while maintaining film-forming properties of chitin or chitosan, by using both a specific chitosan derivative and an anionic surfactant. SOLUTION: This hair cosmetic is obtained by combining a water-soluble chitosan derivative of the formula [R is H or COCH3 ; R is CH2 CO2 H, CH2 CH2 OH, (CH2 CH2 O)m -H, (CH2 CH2 (CH3 )O)m -H or CH2 CH2 CO2 H; (n) is 10-3,000; (m) is 1-20] with an anionic surfactant. A fatty acid salt, a phosphoric ester salt, an alkylbenzenesulfonate, etc., are especially preferable as the anionic surfactant and the amount of the anionic surfactant is 0.0001-10wt.%, especially about 0.001-10wt.%. A chitosan derivative having 10,000-500,000 average molecular weight, especially one having 30-100% dealkylation degree derived from a chitin is preferable as the compound of the formula. The amount of the compound blended is preferable about 0.001-10wt.%. The cosmetic is useful for a pump foamer.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair treating agent composition capable of increasing both a permeation rate and amount to hair, having no sensitizing potential, at a low production cost. SOLUTION: This hair treating agent composition contains 0.1-15wt.%, preferably 1-5wt.% of a compound of the formula CH3 C6 H4 OCH2 CH2 OH as a permeation promoter. Since the compound of the formula has the same permeation promoting effect as that of benzyl alcohol as a conventional permeation promoter, and is extremely weak in aroma or substantially odorless, it can impart aimed aroma to a hair treating agent. The hair treating agent composition can be mixed with a dye (e.g. black 401), a keratin reducing agent (e.g. thioglycolic acid), etc., and can be prepared into a cream, emulsion, gel, mousse or a foamy state. The compound of the formula is obtained by adding 1mol ethylene oxide to the phenolic hydroxyl group of cresol.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a hairdye applicator which is excellent in maneuvability and facilitates hairdyeing, even by self-hairdyeing, while minimizing the stick of a hairdye to skin. CONSTITUTION: This applicator comprises a handle 3 with a discharge mechanism 2, a neck 4 detachably attached to the handle 3, and an applying part 5 detachably attached to the neck 4. The discharge mechanism 2 forms a discharge conduit for guiding a hairdye to the neck 4, and it comprises, as its main body, tubular members 9 and 10 disposed so that they freely move relatively in the longitudinal direction of the handle 3 via an elastic member. A nonreturn valve for opening/closing the discharge conduit is disposed in the tubular members 9 and 10, and also either the tubular member 9 or 10 is provided with a contact prevention wall which prevents the contact of the elastic member and the hairdye. The application part 5 comprises a guide face 51 with a hole 54 leading to a second conduit, and a comb member 50 with teeth 52 along the guide face 51 in one direction. Further, the comb member 50 can turn around the axis of the hole.
