Abstract:
A cell culture support comprising a base material to which cells adhere and a layer of a polymer having a critical temperature of dissolution in water of 0 to 80 °C applied to the surface of the base material in a coating weight of 2 to 80 mg/m2; a process for the production of the support; and a process for the production of a cell cluster by culturing cells on the support and peeling off the culture product therefrom.
Abstract:
A cosmetic composition comprising an aqueous polymer emulsion in an amount of from 1 to 60% by weight in terms of the weight of solid contents of the cosmetic composition. The aqueous polymer emulsion is produced by polymerizing at least one polymerizable monomer having a double bond in the presence of a plasticizer or a film-forming auxiliary. This aqueous polymer emulsion ensures in the cosmetic composition excellent gloss, film stability, water repellency, and film-forming properties, and also ensures freedom from cosmetic crumbling due to sweat and sebum.

Abstract:
A composition for application to the skin to protect the skin from the long wavelength ultraviolet ray comprises a dibenzoylmethane derivative of the following general formulain which X represents a hydrogen atom, a monovalent metal cation, an organic cation, a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms, or a polyoxyalkylene oxide having 2 or 3 carbon atoms, each Y and each Z independently represent a hydroxyl group, a linear or branched alkyl group having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms, or an alkoxy group having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms, or a polyoxyalkylene oxide group having from 2 to 3 carbon atoms, and m and n are independently an integer of from 0 to 3.The composition is adjustable so as to have an optimum HLB balance and has good compatibility with various cosmetic bases. Further, it does not irritate the skin, is difficult to be percutaneously absorbed and shows continued skin-protecting effects.
Abstract:
The object of the invention is a new isomer mixture of 3-hydroxybutyl monothioglycollate and 3-hydroxy-1-methyl propyl monothioglycollate in a weight proportion of about 1.5 : 1 to 4 : 1, preferably about 2 : 1 to about 3 : 1, comprising less than 5%, preferably less than 2% by wt., of 1,3-butanediol thioglycollate, and its use as the sole or main reducing agent in compositions for permanent waving of human hair. The compositions have reduced smell, good waving properties and an extremely low sensitizing potential on human skin.
