Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an ink compsn. containing a sublimable dye having both of a high sublimation speed and image stability after transfer by using a compd. having a specific structure as a dye for thermal transfer recording. CONSTITUTION:An ink compsn. for thermal transfer recording contains a dye for thermal transfer recording represented by formula I, a binder resin and an org. solvent and/or water. In the formula I, R is an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a cycloalkyl group or an aryl group, R -R are 11, a 1-4C alkyl group or halogen, R -R are H, a 1-4C alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an alkylcarbonylamino group, an alkoxycarbonylamino group, a formylamino group, an alkylsulfonylamino group or halogen and R and R are H, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aralkyl group or an aryl group. By using this dye, recording having good color density can be obtained at a high sublimation speed.

CONSTITUTION:The dye for a piece-dying yellow color toner is expressed by formula, and the dye is used for the color toner. In formula, aromatic rings A to C may have substituents. The yellow color toner is obtd. by dying a toner resin by using the yellow color dye expressed by formula and a nonion or anion dispersant. As for the dyeing auxiliaries, a nonion or anion dispersant is used. The dispersant to be used to dye the piece-dyeing color toner must be colorless or slightly colored because if the dispersant itself is colored, decoloration is not completely performed although a water-washing process or the like is included.

The dye represented by the formula I is easily adapted to gradation recording and suitable for full color recording.

CONSTITUTION:Ink is prepared by dissolving or dispersing coloring matter for thermal transfer recording wherein respective specific amounts of orange coloring matter expressed by the formula I (Ar1, Ar2, Ar3 express an aryl group) and blue coloring matter expressed by the formula II (R1, R2, R3 express a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a nitro group, a hydroxy group, an alkyl group, etc., and R4, R5 express an alkyl group.) are mixed, together with binder resin in an organic solvent. A thermal transfer layer is laminated by coating and drying that ink on a base material of condenser paper, a plastic film, etc., and a transfer sheet is formed. After superimposing the transfer sheet on a material to be recorded, the transfer sheet is heated and pressurized from a rear surface of the transfer sheet with a thermal recording head to transfer the coloring matter on the transfer sheet onto the material to be recorded.
