    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrafine polyester fiber capable of forming cloths, such as a high-density woven and knitted fabric, excellent in resiliency and form retention, although the woven and knitted fabric is thin, light and soft, and to provide combined filament yarns and cloths therefrom. SOLUTION: This ultrafine polyester fiber is obtained from a conjugate fiber of the ultrafine fiber-generating type, wherein the fiber has the following characteristics (A): (1) the density is 1.335-1.360 (g/cm3); (2) the degree of crystallization is 21-26%; (3) the crystalline size is 1.4-2.2 nm at the Miller indices of (010), 1.4-2.5 nm at the Miller indices of (100), and 1.6-3.5 nm at the Miller indices of 1 with a bar, 0 and 5 [hereinafter, referred to as (-105)]; (4) the orientation of the crystalline region is 75% or less at the Miller indices of (010) and 85% or less at the Miller indices of (-105); and (5) the orientation of the amorphous region is 0.15-0.4, the hot-water shrinkage percentage is 0-35% and the dry-heat shrinkage percentage is 0-35%.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pile sheet having excellent set stability in working, capable of performing a formation following to a complex solid curved face and having excellent decorativeness or beautifulness by forming a ground fabric for a pile by using specific polyester fibers having structural characteristic values of high amorphous density and low amorphous orientation. SOLUTION: This pile ground fabric is obtained by using a polyester fiber yarn having specific structural characteristics that are a high amorphous density of 1.30-1.37 g/cm2 and low amorphous orientation of 0.088-0.45 and having 30-200 kgf/mm2 apparent Young's modulus, 0.2-1 g/d initial stress, 3-10% initial elongation and more than 100% breaking elongation, or using a complex structural yarn comprising the polyester fibers as a core yarn and covering with the other fibers as a sheath yarn.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester fiber product which is dyeable with an acidic dye, facilitates dyeing with it dispersion dye and shows excellent color development and brightness by applying a poly(vinylamine) polymer to a polyester fiber product containing sulfonic acid group as an acid component. SOLUTION: A polyester fiber product prepared from a polyester comprising the acid components containing an isophthalic acid substituted with sulfonic acid (or its metallic salt) (its molar copolymerization percentage is preferably 0.1-20% based on terephthalic acid) and the glycol component containing ethylene glycol, butylene glycol and/or polyalkylene glycol is treated with a poly(vinylamine) polymer at least having a recurring unit of the formula. In an preferred embodiment, the fiber product from a polyester bearing sulfonic acid or its salt groups is treated with a polymer having a poly(vinylamine) chain and dyed with an acid dye.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To simultaneously impart moist and smooth touch characteristics, in a sheet like article wherein a coating layer is provided on the surface of a base material mainly composed of an entangled material of extremely fine synthetic fibers with a specific fineness value or less, by constituting the coating layer of a substance wherein a part of atherocollagen molecule is crosslinked. CONSTITUTION: A sheet like article is constituted by forming one or more coating layer on the surface of a base material. The base material is mainly constituted of an entangled material obtained by applying needle punching or water jet punching to extremely fine fibers with 0.5 denier or less. By this constitution, the base material has flexibility and good surface smoothness and the coating layer can be made thin. The coating layer is formed by applying a soln. containing at least atherocollagen to the surface of the base material and irradiating the coated surface of the base material with ultraviolet rays or γ-rays to crosslink at least a part of an atherocollagen molecule. By this method, heat resistance, chemical resistance and high tensile strength can be imparted to the sheet like article.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a method and a device for producing a fiber having drastically varying cross-sectional areas and shapes varying within a few centimeter in the longitudinal direction without lowering the molecular weight. CONSTITUTION: In this fiber having varying cross-sectional shapes in the longitudinal direction, a nonoverlapping area factor of >=10% appears at any cross section within 10cm length of the fiber, the cross-sectional area varies along the longitudinal direction of the fiber and the ratio of the minimum cross-sectional area to the maximum cross-sectional area is (0.1-0.9). The method for producing the fiber is to process the fiber by contacting and separating a fiber- processing material with and from a part of the fiber and use a piezoelectric element as the driving source of the fiber-processing material. This device for producing the fiber consists of the fiber-processing material which processes the fiber by contacting it with and separating it from the fiber and the piezoelectric element which is the operation-power source of the fiber-processing material.
