    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a semipermeable membrane suitable for selective permeation and separation of components of liquid mixture, by cosslinking the polymer of which main component is polyepiaminohydrine. CONSTITUTION:A polymer of which main component is polyepiaminohydrine is crosslinked to obtain a semipermeable membrane. The polyepiaminohydrine said above should have a molecular weight of several hundred to several millions, preferably several thousands to tens of thousand, containing the unit of I in the polymer by at least about not less than 20%, preferably about not less than 50%. This may be obtained by aminating the polymer containing the compound in formula II obtained by homopolymerization of epihalohydrine or copolymerization with ethylene oxide, by at least about not less than 20%, preferably about not less than 50%.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent environmental degradation and to effectively utilize water by recovering waste water from the drain port of a kitchen sink and purifying the water by reaction of a photocatalyst, then discarding or recycling the water. SOLUTION: This septic device connected via an odor trap 7 to the kitchen sink 1 consists of a waste water tank 8, a purified water tank 13, a pump unit 9, a reaction vessel 10, a separating vessel 11, etc., and is so piped as to recycle the water from the purified water tank 13. The sink 1 is provided with a cage type container 4 for easily replacing a filter 5. At the time of a waste water treatment, titanium dioxide powder as the photocatalyst is added to the water and while the powder is suspended in the reaction vessel 10, the water is kept stirred and is irradiated with UV rays by an ultra-high pressure mercury lamp. The water is then passed through the electret filter, by which the titanium dioxide powder is filtered and, thereafter, the water is sent to the separating vessel 11, where water content and oil-component are fractionated by a hollow fiber module. The treated water is returned to the purified water tank 13.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a composite membrane for reverse osmosis enhanced in displaceability and water transmission velocity by using a film forming solvent low in the destruction coefficient of an ozone layer. CONSTITUTION:In the production of a composite membrane for reverse osmosis constituted by providing an active layer composed of crosslinked polyamide obtained by the polycondensation of polyfunctional amine and polyfunctional acyl halide on a porous support film constituted of polyether sulfone having a repeating unit represented by formula -Ph-SO2-Ph-O-(wherein Ph is a phenylene group), 2,2-dichloro-1,1,1-trifluoroethane is used as an active layer forming solvent and, after the active layer is formed, the composite membrane is treated with hot water at 75-95 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a composite semipermeable membrane having high separation ability and reverse osmosis ability of high water permeating quantity with use of a high b.p. hydrocarbon solvent free from destruction of ozone layer, safe in handling and easy to recover. CONSTITUTION:When the composite semipermeable membrane is produced by interfacial polycondensation of polyfunctional amine and polyfunctional acylhalide in porous high polymer film state, the hydrocarbon solvent having >=20 deg.C flash point is used as a solvent of polyfunctional acylhalide and when the solvent is vaporized after termination of reaction, a gas having >=1g water quantity per 1kg dry gas in absolute humidity is blown with 2-20m/see gas speed on the film surface at 10-80 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composite membrane for use in pervaporation having a repeating unit ratio of at least 0.5 to separate a highly conc. mixture of org. liquids by means of a porous supporting body made from polymers, having an active layer and the repeating unit expressed by a specific general formula. CONSTITUTION:The supporting body having a porous membrane is made by a dry and wet or wet method from a polymer having the repeating unit expressed by the general formula (Ph-SOx) or ((Ph-SOx)-(Ph-Y)) (wherein Ph represents phenylene group, Y is selected from SO, SO2 and CO and X is zero, 1 or 2) and a polymer having the repeating unit expressed by the general formula (Ph-S) and ((Ph-S)-(Ph-Y)) (wherein Ph and Y are the same as in the above formula). Such porous membrane is oxidized by using an oxidizing agent such as peracetic acid. The porous supporting body thus obtained is covered with ann active layer (a high-molecular substance such as polydemethylsiloxane having a separating function by pervaporation), thereby permitting the separation of a highly conc. mixture of org. liquids.
