Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and device for informing a driver or for reacting when the vehicle leaves a lane. To this end, the course of at least one edge marking of the lane is determined, the expected trajectory of the vehicle is determined, whereupon these variables are used to determine whether the vehicle has left the lane. When determining the trajectory of the vehicle, future reactions of the driver are taken into account.
Abstract:
A lane departure prevention system comprises a traveling status detecting unit for detecting current lateral displacement (Xs) and current yaw angle (Φ) of a vehicle relative to a lane of travel, a departure detecting unit (S2,S3) for detecting whether the vehicle is tending to depart from the lane of travel on the basis of current lateral displacement (Xs) of the vehicle relative to the lane of travel as detected by the traveling status detecting unit; and a departure avoidance control unit (S4...S9) for controlling the vehicle to avoid lane departure when the departure detecting unit detects that the vehicle is tending to depart from the lane of travel. The departure avoidance control unit (S4...S9) calculating the extent of control necessary to avoid lane departure on the basis of current yaw angle (Φ) of the vehicle detected by the traveling status detecting unit. Provision is made for preventing lane departure on a curving as well as a straight road.
Abstract:
An intention estimation (1) and operation assistance system for estimating an operator's intention (60) and providing assistance to operation of a machine. Reference data, such as the operation of a plurality of hypothetical operators (40), is provided for comparison with the operation of a real operator (30), to determine an estimated intention of the operator. The estimated operator is utilized to alter the operation of the machine, to provide a safer and/or smoother operation experience in operating the machine.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for assisting a driver by means of at least one collision warning system, the method comprising the steps of: measuring a visual activity of the driver based on the driver's head and/or eye movement; assessing a driver's level of attention to driving tasks based on the measured visual activity; and adapting a warning threshold of the at least one collision warning system to the assessed driver's level of attention.
Abstract:
A lane departure prevention system is provided with a lane departure tendency detection section, a yaw moment calculating section and a yaw moment control section. The lane departure tendency detection section detects a degree of a lane departure tendency of a host vehicle exhibiting a tendency of departing from its driving lane. The yaw moment calculating section calculates a base yaw moment to be applied to the host vehicle based on the degree of the lane departure tendency. The yaw moment control section applies the base yaw moment calculated by the yaw moment calculating section to the host vehicle when the base yaw moment is equal to or larger than a first prescribed minimum yaw moment, which is greater than zero, and applies the first prescribed minimum yaw moment to the host vehicle if the base yaw moment is smaller than the first prescribed minimum yaw moment.
Abstract:
Method and arrangement for controlling a subsystem of a vehicle dependent upon a sensed level of driver inattentiveness to vehicle driving tasks. A variable characteristic is measured, on a substantially real-time basis, which correlates to the driver's inattentiveness. The level of inattentiveness is assessed based at least in part on the measurement. The performance of a subsystem of the vehicle, such as cruise control or lane keeping support, is tailored, based thereupon, to assure that behavior of the vehicle appropriately matches the driver's present level of inattentiveness. The subsystem's operation is controlled in an effort to avoid or prevent the establishment of driving conditions that become inherently more dangerous as the driver's level of inattentiveness increases.
Abstract:
An intention estimation system (1) and method with confidence indication (Sc) for providing operation assistance based on an operator's intention (λrd). A current operation performed by the operator is detected (30), and data related to an estimated intention of the operator is generated based on the detected operation. A confidence index of the estimated intention of the operator is then determined. The confidence index indicates, for example, the reliability or strength of the estimated intention. An operation assistance may be provided based on the estimated intention and the confidence index.
