Abstract:
Hybrid rope (20) comprising a core element (22) containing high modulus fibers surrounded by at least one outer layer (24) containing wirelike metallic members (26). The core element (22) is coated (23) with a thermoplastic polyurethane or a copolyester elastomer, preferably the copolyester elastomer containing soft blocks in the range of 10 to 70 wt %. The coated material (23) on the inner core element (22) is inhibited to be pressed out in-between the wirelike members (26) of the hybrid rope (20) and the hybrid rope (20) has decreased elongation and diameter reduction after being in use.
Abstract:
The object of the invention is a traction sheave elevator and a rope that contains metal as a load-bearing material, such as the suspension rope of an elevator, which rope comprises at least one or more strands laid from metal wires and which rope is lubricated with a lubricant. Another object is the use of the aforementioned lubricant for lubricating the rope. The lubricant comprises at least oil and thickener, which thickener in the lubricant comprises at least 10% or more of the mass of the lubricant.
Abstract:
[Object] To provide a pneumatic tire 22 that allows a low fitting pressure to be achieved without impairing a tightening force.[Solution] The tire 22 includes a pair of beads 30 and a carcass 32 extending on and between both beads 30. Each bead 30 includes a core 48. The core 48 includes: a main body 56 including a cord 60 extending in a circumferential direction; and a stretchable portion 58 formed from a crosslinked rubber. The stretchable portion 58 is located inward of the main body 56 in an axial direction. The stretchable portion 58 has a size with which at least one cross-section of the cord 60 can be included therein in a cross-section of the bead 30. Preferably, in the tire 22, the main body 56 includes a hard unit and a soft unit. The soft unit is located outward of the hard unit in a radial direction. A hard cord of the hard unit stretches more easily than a soft cord of the soft unit.
Abstract:
Elevator tension members are disclosed. The disclosed tension member longitudinally extends along a longitudinal axis and includes a plurality of fibers formed into one or more primary strands or cords extending parallel to the longitudinal axis and a plurality of fibers formed into one or more secondary strands or cords extending parallel to the longitudinal axis and through less than the full length of the belt, and a jacket retaining the primary and secondary strands or cords. The secondary strands or cords have a tensile modulus greater than a tensile modulus of the jacket and less than a tensile modulus of the primary strands or cords. Methods of making the tension member are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a composite fishing line manufactured by entangling eight bundles of fibers selected from two different types of fibers, one being a high molecular-weight polyethylene fiber and the other being a high molecular-weight expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) fiber, such that the composite fishing line has the properties of both high molecular-weight polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fibers and polyamide fibers to improve the strength, wear-resistance, cross-sectional roundness, and water resistance of the high-performance fishing line and achieve the effect of reducing the diameter of the fishing line.
Abstract:
A rope has a rope core formed of load-bearing aramide fiber strands laid parallel to each other in concentric layers of strands and strands of an outermost layer laid with opposite lay to the rope core. As a result of the opposite lay, the torques which occur in the layers of strands when under load cancel each other out and a non-twisting rope structure is achieved. An elastic intersheath is positioned between the oppositely laid layers of strands to protect the strands against abrasion and to transmit the torque over a wide area in the rope.

PCT No. PCT/GB78/00019 Sec. 371 Date June 5, 1979 Sec. 102(e) date June 1, 1979 PCT Filed Oct. 3, 1978 PCT Pub. No. W079/00182 PCT Pub. Date Apr. 19, 1979The invention relates to wire ropes. There is disclosed a wire rope comprising a plurality of strands (4-12) twisted together with each strand (4-12) being individually covered by a respective sheath (16) of rubber or rubber substitute. Each strand (4-12) comprises a plurality of wires (14) twisted together with the direction of twist of at least the outer wires (14) in each strand (4-12) being opposite to the direction of twist of at least the outer wires (14) in the strands (4-12) adjacent to it, the rope having an outer covering sheath (18) of rubber or rubber substitute. In this way, the wires (14) of adjacent strands (4-12) do not cross each other, and stress on them is reduced.
